Tarea
Each week, learners will have a wide-range of assignments, which are NOT required; however, these items are included as they add to the overall class topics and engage the students even more in the subject of Space! I consider these items "Additional Learning Opportunities" as they add to the teacher-created videos and other related materials.
Evaluación
In order for learners to assess their own understanding with these Space topics, teacher will include a variety of teacher-created game links, along with other materials that student may choose to engage in. These are not required assessments, but will allow the learner to better understand what knowledge they have gained from the teacher-created videos and other content offered. Note: Teacher also allows learners to comment under each teacher-created video to answer questions asked within the videos. Although this isn't an "assessment", it does allow the learner time to think on the information and topics, and then draw their own conclusions or thoughts about them.

Experiencia de clase

Nivel de inglés: desconocido
As Space is becoming increasingly important in countries around the world, young space enthusiasts seek to learn more about the Universe, and the mysteries it holds. In this class, we take on that challenge, diving deep into the weirdest space findings scientists have discovered in recent times. This one-time course is open to all learners who want to truly find out some fantastic, and down-right weird, and often unexplainable space discoveries.

In this self-paced and/or subscription-based class, we are introduced to space topics, discover what they are and how they work, then we dive into the weirdest ones scientists have found in space. This class combines tons of Space Science, along with the strange, and often unexplainable, facts about the weirdest things humans have discovered in space, leaving learners craving for more!

Teacher has posted a series of videos which learners should watch in order. The first video of the lesson will explain the scientific area we are exploring; such as stars, black holes, exoplanets, and our Solar System. Then the next video in the lesson will dive into the mysterious and down-right weird things which the Universe has uncovered for us.
There will be additional Learning Materials offering for each lesson, which might include color pages, game links, worksheets, and YouTube links for additional research and learning about the topic of discussion. These additional resources, are not mandatory, but do provide even more fun and engaging learning opportunities for my students. It is my hope that this class will inspire additional learning and space exploration for all minds!

My unique style of teaching is full of high energy, funny, enthusiastic, and I love to hear from each of my learners! Let’s have some fun learning all about the wonders of Space together.

*No previous knowledge or classes required.

Metas de aprendizaje

Students will be able to identify several of the weirdest things found in space, and will be able to discuss these and even teach others what they have learned about Stars, Black Holes, Quasars, Exoplanets, & our Solar System, along with the weirdest things about them.

Lección 1:
Stars & The Weirdest Star Discovered
During this lesson, we will learn all about what makes a star a star. We learn how they are powered, and even uncover some truly remarkable things about our own star.
Our second video will introduce students to possibly the Weirdest Star scientists have ever discovered! This one still has everyone's head buzzing with excitement and wonder at how it is a living, thriving star at all!

Lección 2:
Black Holes, Quasars, & Very Strange Black Holes
During our first video, we will learn about what black holes are and how they are very different from quasars. We will look at how black holes do what they do, and even check out their parts.
During the second half of this lesson, we will uncover not just one, but three very unique and beyond-belief black holes. This one will have our minds whirling with the possibilities that exist in the Known Universe!

Lección 3:
Exoplanets & The Weirdest Exoplanets Discovered
Our first video lesson will cover the topic of Exoplanets, as we learn about what they are, and how many different types of exoplanets humans have already found.
We then travel the Milky Way in search for two very strange, almost unimaginable, exoplanets as we learn where they are located, how they orbit their star, and what makes them so different from others we have discovered in the vastness of space.

Lección 4:
Our Solar System, the Kuiper Belt, & a Weird Space Rock
During this class, we have a mini Solar System lesson as we look into the various areas of our Solar System to see how it works. We then turn our focus to the Kuiper Belt, that dark region with millions of planetoids, comets, and so many mysteries.
Our next video will take us on an adventure not soon forgotten as we explore the weirdest thing humans have found in our very own Solar System, and why this particular space rock has scientists still trying to figure it out!

I have always had a love of space, from the moment my grandpa, an amateur astronomer, let me look through the 10-foot telescope he built all by himself, to watching shuttles & satellites lift into the sky, and watching some fall back to the earth. I have spotted some of the largest dust storms to hit Mars, and have enjoyed looking at the various craters on our Moon and seeing the rings around Saturn, all from my own backyard in Missouri & while using other telescopes my grandpa and I built together over the years. I have never ceased my exploration and search, looking to the skies to watch for eclipses, comets, and so much more! My love of all things Space has only increased with time, and I feel it is the next great wave of the future! As a teacher with a Master’s Degree in Teaching & over 30 years of experience working with children of various ages, and more than 5 years teaching students about Space as an amateur astronomer, as well as other Science-related subject-matter, I love sharing my knowledge with the next generation. My hope is to instill the awe-inspiring beauty the Unknown Universe holds, as well as encourage students to dream and believe! I hope to see you in class as we discover the Weirdest things in Space!
