Experiencia de clase

In this ongoing class, students will learn about artists and artwork from around the world and throughout history. This is a lecture/discussion style class, were we will discuss the artist and the time period they were a part of, their inspiration, and a piece of artwork that they have created. Additional topics we will learn about are architectural sites and dark tourism etc.

** PLEASE NOTE: Some of the artwork and locations that we discuss will range from the odd and interesting styles of an artist, artwork and architecture that pertain to religion, death, violence, war and darker subjects.
Please also keep in mind that even though the title of this class contains the word "Weird," the artwork and the context of the art, varies. Our class may contain art pieces that may have mediums outside of what we consider normal, or topics that are deeper and darker than what we see in mainstream media, but just because we are using the word "weird" to describe the class, does not mean that these topics or mediums are in any way "less than" other traditional forms of art and creativity. These artists are showing ways to think and create outside of the box.

Licenciatura en Música o Teatro o Artes desde University of Wyoming
Hello,
My name is Ms. Elizabeth Suriani, and I am a full-time artist from Northern Colorado. I graduated from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a minor in Art History in 2016. While at the University of Wyoming I primarily studied 2D art style, including oil painting and print making. I also studied in Florence, Italy during the fall of 2015 where I studied architectural and figurative drawing, as well as fresco restoration.

Since 2015 I have been teaching art and art history to students ranging from ages 5-17 years old with lessons ranging from basic instructions, all the way to advanced classes and color theory for older students. I love teaching art and am currently teaching two international students in Italy and Thailand.

I have recently returned home from teaching English as a second language in Bangkok, Thailand with students aging from 2-16 years old. I loved working with my students and miss them dearly.
On top of being a full-time artist, I have also started my own jewelry business, as well as teaching English Language to children in China!

When teaching, I love to keep things fun and light. I believe that seriousness doesn’t do a young mind any good when learning art at an early age, it tends to discourage them instead. I want to help my students find art or anything they are passionate about and feel like they have a space to ask questions, experiment, and flourish.
I can’t wait to see you in class!
