If you like to learn new words, write and doodle, then you will love this fun Weekly Word Chunk class. You are ready for this class if you know most of your alphabet letters and sounds, and like to write and doodle. Each week we will learn a new blend, diagraph, vowel team or ending chunk. We will combine our words with sight words to make a sentence with some of our words of the day. Bring a notebook or blank paper and your favorite markers, crayons, pencils or pens to follow along and "collect" lots of word chunks! Here's our routine: 1. Welcome, Introduce 1-2 sight words, and practice reading a few sentences together with picture prompts. 2. Word Chunk of the Week- Discover words in the word chunk group 3. Brainstorm and add any other words that should go in our word chunk category. 4. Write down our word chunk words with alongside some cute and easy doodles. Learners may use their imaginations, but I will also use a second camera so that everyone can see what I am modeling up close! 5. Create (and write with support) 1-3 sentences combining our sight word sentence pattern with our word chunk words of the day. 6. Share our doodles and say goodbyes! For now we have lot of word chunks in our growing list. Sight words repeat and rotate and will compliment each week's words. Join any time! I am so excited for the opportunity to bring creative, energetic and meaningful lessons to the learners on Outschool. I am a certified school teacher, and I have classroom experience in both public and private schools. Currently, I work exclusively teaching online while homeschooling my own children. As a homeschooling family, we love to spend time together traveling when possible, and enjoying the great outdoors at our country home with our animals.
The classes I offer are full of fun activities that engage the students while they are learning. I love teaching with a theme that captivates the interests of learners. All of the classes that I offer are designed for learners in the 3-7 years old age range. My specialties include circle time, playdough playtime, alphabet mini classes and beginning level language arts.
It is my goal to give every student time to shine in all of my classes. Everyone has the opportunity to contribute to the lesson. This helps build important social skills, make friends and also feel important, valued and special.
