Each week, we will begin our meeting with a "window check" where each student checks the weather outside and reports back to the class. This will help encourage confidence when speaking in front of peers, as well as reinforce the concept of taking turns and listening. We will even do a yoga pose or movement activity that relates to the weather observed. Next, we will have a class discussion about the weather theme of the week (see schedule below). The teacher will share some photos and videos to help the students visualize the concepts. Lastly, we will do a STEAM activity each week. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, art, and math, so the different activities will touch on different aspects of STEAM over the weeks. As we work on the activity, we will continue to discuss the theme of the week and the science behind it. Schedule: Week of 9/10: Topic: Rainbows Activity: "Grow a Rainbow" experiment Week of 9/17- Topic: Thunderstorms Activity: "Yarn Paint Storm" art Week of 9/24- Topic: Water Cycle Activity: "Water Cycle in a Bag" Week of 10/1- Topic: Types of Clouds Activity: "Cotton Ball Clouds" Week of 10/8- Topic: Wind Activity: Wind Art (paint and straws) Past Topics: Week of 12/20- Topic: Tornadoes Activity: "Tornado in a Bottle" experiment Week of 12/27: Topics: Types of Clouds Activity: Modeling clouds with cotton balls and black/gray markers Week of 1/3: Topic: Measuring Precipitation Activity: DIY rain or snow gauge Week of 1/10: Topic: Wind Activity: DIY anomometer Week of 1/17: Topic: Tracking Weather Activity: Collaborative weather graph Week of 1/24 - Topic: Wind Activity: "Wind Painting" art Week of 1/31- Topic: Hurricanes Activity: "Wind-proof House" engineering challenge Week of 2/7- Topic: Snow Activity: "Snowstorm in a Bottle" experiment Week of 2/14- Topic: Water Cycle Activity: "Rain in a Bag" experiment sun/paper plate

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Hello! My passion is teaching young students the importance and fun in science, technology, engineering, art, and math. I am a certified k-12 science teacher with a master’s in biology. I believe in hands-on learning and appealing to young learners’ interests to help them find their passion for STEAM! I’m a big animal lover and have been on an African safari three times! My idol is Jane Goodall, and I was fortunate enough to visit her chimpanzee sanctuary one of my trips!
