Experiencia de clase

In this weekly course, students will learn watercolor techniques by completing a new project each week. Students can request a project that will interest them each week and we will work together to complete the project. This is a subscription class, so you will be charged on a weekly basis. We meet twice weekly for one hour on both Monday and Tuesday, every week.

Learners are encouraged to take risks, ask questions, and also to use their mistakes to create new techniques. This is a growth-oriented class, and exploration through the artistic process is the main goal. It's the journey that's important, not the destination. Students will learn lots of new techniques that they can add to their "artist toolbox." Once they have these techniques, they can use them to explore projects on their own.

This class includes:
Skill Building and Color Mixing
Animals that are drawn and painted directly on the page
Landscapes
Some mixed media, such as drawing, crayon resist, rice, salt, and more!

In this class, students will learn watercolor and drawing techniques which will allow them to have the confidence and skills to create their own works of art in the future.

Art Techniques:
Properly hydrating your watercolor paint
Color Mixing
Watercolor Wheel
Crayon Resist
Wet on Wet
Watercolor Galaxy or “drop technique”
Blot
Scratching
Watercolor Pencils and how to use them
Salt
Rubbing Alcohol
Wash
Dry Brush
Tape Masking
Sunset Resist
Collage
Plastic bag or bubble wrap

Class Expectations

5. Per Outschool safety policy, each learner must enable their camera and check in at least once during class to confirm their identity. If this is not done, the learner will have to be removed from the class session and can be readmitted to class once their identity has been verified. For more info on this safety, policy see: https://support.outschool.com/en/articles/579976-learner-safety-and-privacy-for-parents
6. Please try to arrive on time for the class. If you are more than 15 minutes late, please watch the video of the class after the class has ended to catch up. The class will be locked 20 minutes after the class begins to minimize interruptions in instruction. I'm happy to chat with you if you have any questions about the class video.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I've been teaching grades K-12 for over a decade and have used this curriculum with a multitude of ages. This curriculum has been used and modified over the years so that it will set students up with the tools they need to be successful in creating their own works of art. In addition to teaching art, I am a professional painter and I use these same tools to create my art. My approach to teaching is hands-on, exploratory, and creative. I like to begin by demonstrating the basic skills, having students demonstrate the basic skills, and then allowing them to apply those skills to a creative project. I meet students where they're at and my goal is to grow their skills and their confidence so they feel empowered to tackle their own projects outside of class.

Learners are encouraged to take risks, ask questions, and also to use their mistakes to create new techniques. This is a growth-oriented class, and exploration through process is the main goal. It's the journey that's important, not the destination. Students will learn lots of new techniques that they can add to their "artist toolbox." Once they have these techniques, they can use them to explore projects on their own.
