Lessons for young children include fun warmups that also have very specific goals for vocal development. We learn about good posture, breathing for singing, storytelling through song, and of course, we sing songs! In our time together we may cover concepts such as proper breathing technique, pitch matching, vocal technique skills, acting through song and of course learning songs appropriate for your level. I'll also help you choose songs appropriate for your age and current abilities. WHAT IS THE FIRST LESSON LIKE? In our first lesson, I'll observe your singing through specific exercises so that I can observe your current skills. If you have a song or part of a song you can sing for me during our first lesson, this would be beneficial for assessment purposes. We will talk about your short and long term goals and together set achievable goals based on what I hear. WHAT ARE FOLLOW UP LESSONS LIKE? Each lesson will include technique exercises based on your goals and vocal needs. We will then apply those exercises to your songs. We may also work on artistry, acting your song, and English or foreign language diction. I’ll always tailor our time together so that we work towards your specific goals. DO I NEED TO PRACTICE? Weekly practice is encouraged. I will provide a practice chart along with suggested practice goals.
