Grado de EE. UU. 3 - 4
In this weekly class students will get a chance to learn and practice concepts learned in year 3 in Australia or grade 3/4 in America. Each week we will cover a concept and students will be given problems to practice. Learning math requires a lot of practice to master new concepts. While I may need to explain a new concept, there will be a lot of practice in each class. You'll find a schedule of topics that we will cover each week. The schedule may change slightly as we begin the class. Each student is different and I will do my best to accommodate all students. Weekly Topics: Week 1: Even & odd numbers, skip counting Week 2: Comparing numbers (>,<,=) Week 3: Place value up to thousands Week 4: Numbers -> words Week 5: Standard form & expanding form Week 6: Place value word problems Week 7: Build number based on place value Week 8: Fact families Week 9: Adding multiples of 10 Week 10: Adding a two-digit number & single-digit number (with and without regrouping) Week 11: Adding two-digit numbers (with and without regrouping) Week 12: Addition word problems Week 13: Addition sentences Week 14: Adding 3 or more numbers up to two digits Week 15: Adding 3 or more numbers up to two digits word problems Week 16: Subtract multiples of ten Week 17: Subtracting a two-digit number & single-digit number (with and without regrouping) Week 18: Subtracting two-digit numbers (with and without regrouping) Week 19: Subtraction word problems Week 20: Subtraction sentences Week 21: Add/subtract multiples of 100 Week 22: Adding 2 numbers up to 3 digits (plus word problems) Week 23: Add 3 or more numbers up to 3 digits (plus word problems) Week 24: Add two numbers up to 4 digits (plus word problems) Week 25: Addition patterns Week 26: Subtract numbers up to 3 digits Week 27: Subtract numbers up to 4 digits Week 28: Subtraction patterns Week 29: Addition & subtraction facts Week 30: Add/Subtract data from a table Week 31: Complete the addition sentence (1 digit) Week 32: Balance addition equations (1 digit) Week 33: Complete the subtraction sentence (1 digit) Week 34: Balance the subtraction sentence (1 digit) Week 35: Complete the addition sentence (2 digit) Week 36: Balance addition equations (2 digit) Week 37: Complete the subtraction sentence (2 digit) Week 38: Balance the subtraction sentence (2 digit) Week 39: Use compensation to add (2/3 digits) Week 40: Complete/balance the addition sentence (3 digit) Week 41: Complete/balance the subtraction sentence (3 digit) I like the students to participate as much as they can in my math classes. Math is learned by doing If students know how to annotate on the screen they are welcome to do that in class to show me their work. I just ask that we are kind to each other while we practice during class. Students seem to enjoy Kahoot so we may play that every now and again to change things up and let the students see how they are doing with the material.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will gain confidence in working material seen in year 3 or grade 3/4. Students will begin to master the concepts seen in the previously mentioned levels of schooling.

Hello!
UPDATE: I am taking a break from Outschool. After the spring semester of 2024 ends, I will take a hiatus.
I offer a variety of science and math classes. I have close to ten years of teaching experience. I've worked with students of all ages including young adults. I experience teaching in the classroom and teaching virtually. I have a B.A. from Louisiana State University.
I've helped tutoring student reach their goals whether it's to pass a standardized test or get a passing grade in a course.
I think that a basic understanding of science enhances one's life. It opens up a world hidden to most people. Studying science and math helps children to develop critical thinking skills that can be applied to all areas of life. My goal in all my classes is to inspire the students to study science. I want them to always ask questions and to stay curious.
Please reach out to me if you don't see a time that works for your child. I will try to be accommodating if it is possible.
When I am not teaching or prepping for classes, I enjoy crafting, reading, working out, and spending time with my dog.
"If you are scientifically literate the world looks very different to you. And that understanding empowers you." -Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson
