In this fun, informative weekly art club, students will have the opportunity to learn how to create beautiful art with Procreate. Each week, students will learn the techniques necessary to create a wide variety of art, including but not limited to kawaii and anime and landscapes and animals. Students will be invited to interact with one another and their teacher. Procreate is drawing reimagined for iOS compatible devices. Students should have a separate iPad or iPhone to participate in this class. This class will cover: -clipping masks -layers -symmetry -blending -magic wand tool -brushes -animation assist -and much more! Students should have a basic understanding of the app (i.e. just familiarizing themselves with the brushes, eraser, color, magic wand, canvas, and wrench), but I am able to help every step of the way! Class will start by students introducing themselves and sharing some art they have created. After all students have had an opportunity to share, I will teach by sharing my Procreate screen on Zoom and going step-by-step through the process of drawing the images. I am kind, patient, interactive, and passionate about helping students to create their visions and learn digital art techniques. I hope you will join me for fun each week creating and exploring digital art! Note: When doing directed drawings, I generally ensure all students are guided through each step and have completed each step before moving on. Some students choose to work on their own projects and can ask questions if needed. **Students often vote and choose artworks for the class, but the following are possible topics: June (last two weeks): Week of 6/21: Swan Week of 6/28: Shadow Effect Art July: Week of 7/5: Lily Pond Week of 7/12:Animation Week of 7/19: Mountain with Rainbow Week of 7/26: Sailboat at night August: Week of 8/2: Iris Week of 8/9: Animation Week of 8/16: Animal (have an animal picture ready) Week of 8/23: Make Stamps Week of 8/30: Butterfly September: Week of 9/6: No Monday class for Labor Day -Eiffel tower for Saturday section Week of 9/13: Optical Illusion Week of 9/20: Pyramid Week of 9/27: Desert Scene October: Week of 10/4: Eiffel tower for Monday section Week of 10/11: Planets Week of 10/18: Owl Week of 10/25: Hummingbird November: Week of 11/1: Hot Air Balloons Week of 11/8: Animation Week of 11/15: Swan Waterfall Painting Week of 11/22: Mandala Picture Week of 11/29: Faceless Cartoon Portrait (bring a photo of yourself or someone else) December: Week of 12/6: Photo Editing (bring a photo) Week of 12/13: Facial proportions Week of 12/20: Snow Globe for Monday Section (No class on Saturday for Christmas) Week of 12/27: Northern Lights January: Week of 1/3: Make stickers Week of 1/10: Create a dream room Week of 1/17: City scene Week of 1/24: Cupcake February: Week of 2/1: Pagoda Week of 2/8: Volcano Week of 2/15: Peacock Week of 2/22: Portrait (bring a photo) Week of 2/22: OFF March: Week of 3/7: Paint 3D Objects Week of 3/14: Animal Galaxy Silhouette Week of 3/21: Silhouette House Week of 3/28: Paper Cut Out Art April Week of 4/4: Forest Week of 4/11: Polaroid Cameras Week of 4/18: Koi Fish Week of 4/25: Castle May Week of 5/2: Ferris Wheel Week of 5/9: Boba Tea Week of 5/16: Off Week of 5/23: Make Collage Week of 5/30: lantern June: First week: DTIYS Second week: Turtle Third Week: Animation Fourth Week: Winter in July ***Ongoing classes are billed weekly and students may join and leave at any time. **Procreate on the iPad or iPhone is required for this class. Welcome! If you are looking for a friendly, kind, patient, and interactive teacher for your children, you have come to the right place. I'm so excited you are here! I am looking forward to engaging with your children and teaching digital art.
I have been a school psychologist in various school settings since 2013. As a school psychologist, I evaluate cognitive, academic, social/emotional and behavioral strengths and needs of children in order to help them learn. Therefore, I have extensive experience working with neurodivergent students. I graduated from Temple University with an Educational Specialist Degree (Masters+45 Credits) in School Psychology, and I attended Penn State University for my undergraduate degree in Psychology with a Business focus. While in college, I took numerous art education courses. I have led various social/emotional groups for children in schools, and I have also taught art and drama classes at a summer camp.
I am passionate about working with children and families. I am creative and art has been a hobby of mine growing up. I have experience with numerous art mediums, and I have worked with preschool through twelfth grade students. I believe in the power of using art to gain social-emotional skills. Art can teach us how to problem solve, self-regulate, engage in flexible thinking, and help us see the beauty in imperfection. We can also help one another through thoughtful ideas and constructive feedback. As one student said, “I never knew I could create something like this!”
I value getting to know all students I work with, learning names, and ensuring that all students are happy and engaged. I believe all students can learn, and I am very inclusive and loving towards all students I work with. I make accommodations and modifications for students when needed, such as adjusting projects, repeating information, individualized assistance, and moving at different paces. I encourage creativity and flexibility in self-expression.
I have an eleven-year-old lab/terrier mix pup who I love, and she may make a personal introduction during our sessions! I enjoy exploring countries and learning about different cultures; I have been to Israel, Greece, Canada, and Mexico, and I lived in Michigan before moving to Pennsylvania. Can't wait to work with you and your children!
Please message me about any classes you are interested in and we can find a time to do them. I go back to my full time job after Labor Day but would love to provide classes after 5pm EST or on the weekends! I will also have some scheduled on the weekends! Looking forward to hearing from you!
I do not want cost to be a barrier to taking any of my classes if you are interested in them, so please reach out and we can arrange an affordable cost. =)
I was honored to be featured on Outschool's 2021 "E.P.I.C." blog as a "Passion Driven Educator". I am also an ACE educator on Outschool as I completed various professional development workshops to further my knowledge about working with diverse learners.
