While the goal of this course is to build vocabulary, it is much more than building Urdu vocabulary. Each week, the kids are exposed to Urdu words and phrases around a specific weekly theme. Through different activities, games, and fun, kids practice the learned vocabulary in class. This enables them to gradually become more comfortable with speaking Urdu, and over time, kids are expected to build vocabulary, along with gaining language fluency to converse in Urdu. The weekly themes during a full year are generally not connected, so the learners can join a session in the middle, or come and go (like a weekly subscription). This course has different topics each week, for a full 1 year, as per the time of the year. This is designed to allow for consistent practice of speaking Urdu while building vocabulary and conversation skills. Some of the topics that are covered throughout the year are: - Festivals/Occasions - Colors - Parts of the Body - Seasons (as per the time of the year) - Animals around us; - Things around us - Fruits & Vegetables - Games and Activities vocab & talk: Outdoor vs. Indoor - Back to School - Days of the Week; - Food & their tastes; - Halloween - Emotions - Occupations These topics are well thought out to help relate with the everyday vocabulary relevant and applicable during the time of the year. The vocabulary and grammar covered are for beginners to early intermediates in Urdu conversations. Classroom size is kept small to ensure that each learner actively participates in conversations and activities. Everyone will get the opportunity to speak, interact, and also work on their Urdu fluency during the class time. The curriculum and class content is designed for kids whose native language is not Urdu, and so age-appropriate activities, conversations, and games are included so that, Urdu as a Second Language could be learned in the best possible way. My teaching style is extremely friendly and warm and I ensure that every student gets an opportunity to participate through an inclusive, interactive, and fun learning environment. Note: I encourage learners to take the Urdu Conversation 101 courses before, during, or after the Weekly Chat course to gain a strong foundation of conversational Urdu grammar & vocabulary. This is further reinforced during the Weekly Chat course throughout the year.
