IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a continuously running class on a 12-week cycle. The classes are standalone, so learners can join at any point during the 12 weeks. Once the 12 weeks have concluded, the class will reset, beginning with the initial topic. If you previously unenrolled but did not complete all 12 weeks and wish to rejoin, please verify the topics and dates covered below to ensure that your learner does not repeat a class. Furthermore, upon successful completion of all 12 weeks of this course, learners will receive a certificate of completion. Feel free to contact me to notify me when your learner has completed the entire course. In this ongoing course, students will delve into the fascinating field of meteorology. Each week, students will explore a new aspect of weather-related topics. This course is perfect for weather enthusiasts who enjoy expanding their knowledge of weather. I will incorporate images and brief video clips into a slideshow to enhance engagement and aid in knowledge retention. Each class will be lecture-based, with active encouragement of discussion and student questions. No prior knowledge of this subject is necessary. Hi! My name is Cristina and I am an Astronomy and Meteorology teacher. I have been an educator for over a decade, having earned a Bachelor's degree in Christian Ministry with a minor in Psychology and Counseling. I am a certified severe storm spotter for both the National Weather Service and the Spotter Network, and am proud to be a NASA Social alumni. Additionally, I serve as a Solar System Ambassador for NASA/JPL, allowing me to share the latest astronomy events with my community.
In my role as a science communicator, I've had the honor of sharing space-related updates for numerous years, affording me the opportunity to distribute information about space across various social media platforms. Additionally, I was selected by Lockheed Martin as a space influencer for the OSIRIS-REx asteroid mission. These experiences have not only enriched my understanding of current space developments but also enabled me to impart this knowledge within my Outschool classes.
Science, particularly Meteorology and Astronomy, have always been a passion of mine and I strive to make learning about it enjoyable for students.
A fun fact about me: I can solve a Rubik's cube in under 90 seconds. In my free time, I enjoy reading and baking cookies. I look forward to teaching your learner in the classroom!
