This is an on-going Book Club where we discuss the first 5 Junie B. Jones books. Even though discussion prompts are given this social club will be mostly student led. Each week, students should come to our club meeting time having read the Junie B. Jones book being discussed that week. Students will also be given a Welcome prompt each week to share at the beginning of class. Week 1: Welcome Prompt: What is your favorite Junie B. Jones book? Junie B. Jones and the Stupid Smelly Bus Week 2: Welcome Prompt: Junie B. Jones loved jokes. Bring a clean, age- appropriate joke to share in the club. Junie B. Jones and the Little Monkey Business Week 3: Welcome Prompt: Junie B. Jones loved jokes. Bring a clean, age- appropriate joke to share in the club. Junie B. Jones and Her Big Fat Mouth Week 4: Welcome Prompt: Play a game of I-Spy. Junie B. Jones and Some Sneaky Peeky Spying Week 5 September 14 Welcome Prompt: Share a picture or drawing of your least favorite food. Junie B. Jones and the Yucky Blucky Fruitcake As a teacher I strive to create an environment where all club members feel welcomed and are given opportunities to talk and share with many smiles and laughs along the way. We will start the class with an engaging “Welcome” prompt and then begin discussing the book for the week. Students will be encouraged through the club to think about their reading. Connections will be made through: text to self; text to text; and text to world. This strategy promotes engagement while reading and, in turn, a deeper understanding of the text.

Orientación para padres
In this class I am asking students to come to class on August 24 and 31st and share a joke. Would you please make sure the joke is clean and age-appropriate. We also share a picture or drawing of our favorite food on September 14th, they may need help with this as well. Thank you!
