Experiencia de clase

We will use basic martial arts and simple exercises to teach kids how to wake up and start their day with fitness through karate. We will cover topics such as how to exercise different muscles and what each muscle does as well as how to defend yourself. Each class will begin with a quick introduction and then we will do a quick stretch followed by another some punches and kicks mixed in with some blocks and workouts in between to strengthen the moves that we are working on. My style of teaching is very hands on and fast moving. I will be showing the moves and doing it with the class, stopping periodically to ask if anybody has any questions before moving to the next part. This class is similar to a lecture, students will not be interacting as much with each other, they will instead be performing the moves with me as I teach them. No previous experience in martial arts or fitness is needed.
Since this is an ongoing class, we will be repeating some of our material in this class. A basic break down of 4 weeks of this class will be as follows:
Week 1(10/18-10/22): Standing Stretching followed by Basic punches and kicks, calisthenics, and ending with seated stretching.
Week 2(10/25-10/29): Standing Stretching followed by Basic elbows and knee strikes, calisthenics, and ending with seated stretching.
Week 3(11/1-11/5): Standing Stretching followed by Basic grappling moves, calisthenics, and ending with seated stretching.
Week 4(11/8-11/12): Standing Stretching followed by Basic punches and elbows & Kicks and Knees, calisthenics, and ending with seated stretching.

Orientación para padres
Parents are welcome to watch the class and maybe even participate with their children if they wish. I would also like to notify parents that we will be doing moves that may require a good amount of space so make sure your children have enough room to be punching and kicking without hitting any walls or furniture. I also recommend having them on a carpet or mat if possible as we may be doing things such as learning to fall properly and sit-ups

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
My Name is Sensei Mike. I have been training Shaolin Kempo Karate for over 20 years and am currently a 4th degree black belt in the art. I currently run a Dojo on Long Island teaching Men, Women, and Children how to defend themselves and stay healthy. I have fought in kickboxing, MMA, and grappling and continue to do so. My life goal is to make sure as many people as possible train martial arts to build confidence and learn how to defend themselves in order to become better people and most importantly, have fun.
