This ongoing course is dedicated to practicing solving addition and subtraction word problems within 100. Each week we will have a new "theme" of wacky word problems. See the first four week's themes below: Week 1 (March 10th): food Week 2 (March 17th): animals Week 3 (March 24th): movies Week 4 (March 31st): clothing During each class, will go through a Powerpoint with different word problems. Beginning with solving a word problem together, and troubleshooting any struggles we experience. Then, Mrs. Ciara will challenge students to complete a few word problems on their paper/whiteboard. Students will take turns sharing aloud how they found the correct answer. Students in this class need to be proficient in solving addition and subtraction problems within at least 10. In this class, we will not be focusing on fluency, we will be focusing on dissecting word problems to figure out how to solve. We will solve word problems that have answers within 100.

Hello, and welcome to my corner of the virtual learning world! I'll be offering classes focused on early literacy practices for your young children. Creating a student who loves reading begins at birth. As cheesy as it sounds, it's true! I am hopeful that I can make a difference in your young child's literacy here on Outschool. I'll also be creating craft classes, because when I was a young student, crafts were one of the most fun ways to make learning come alive. In addition to literacy and craft classes, I plan to add classes based on the four main subjects from elementary school- math, language arts, social studies, and science.
I'm a licensed early childhood teacher (this is considered preschool- 3rd grade in my state), and have taught 2nd grade for the last 3 years. I also have experience teaching preschool for over 5 years during my college career. My bachelors degree is in early childhood education and my masters degree is in curriculum and instruction.
I'm currently a work at home mom to my one year old boy. We love going to the park, exercising, traveling to new places in the world, and playing with our dog!
