Greetings, Peace Advocates and History Explorers!

I’m honored to extend an invitation to our special one-time class on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, part of our comprehensive series on the Geography of Japan. This class will take you on a poignant journey through Hiroshima and Nagasaki, two cities forever etched in history for their resilience, remembrance, and pursuit of peace. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a student of resilience, or simply curious about the profound lessons of humanity, this class is perfect for you!

🗾 Class Overview 🗾

①Discover the profound history of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, from their pre-war significance to the events that forever altered their destinies.
②Explore Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park, dedicated to the memory of the atomic bomb’s devastating impact and the pursuit of a world free from nuclear weapons.
③Visit Nagasaki’s Atomic Bomb Museum, which offers a poignant reminder of the city’s resilience and commitment to peace in the face of unimaginable destruction.
④Reflect on the stories of survivors, known as Hibakusha, and their enduring message of hope, reconciliation, and peace.
⑤Examine the cities’ post-war reconstruction efforts and their transformation into vibrant centers of culture, education, and advocacy.
⑥Discuss the global significance of Hiroshima and Nagasaki’s peace movements, and their ongoing efforts to promote disarmament, reconciliation, and the prevention of nuclear proliferation.

🏫 Class Details 🏫

★ Date & Time: July 13th, Saturday at 10:00 to 10:50 am EST (and additional dates if there is enough interest)
★ Platform: The class will be conducted using Zoom, YouTube, and Google Slides for an immersive and interactive learning experience.
★ Assessment: After the class, there will be an assessment to test your understanding and knowledge of Hiroshima and Nagasaki’s history, significance, and ongoing peace efforts.
★ Series Information: This class is part of our “A Look at Japan” series, covering various regions including Tokyo, Hokkaido, Kyoto, Osaka, Okinawa, and Kyushu. Future classes may explore additional regions such as Nara, Shikoku, Mt. Fuji, Yokohama, Nikko, Niigata, and Tohoku, depending on interest.
