This is your chance to completely rewrite the classic story, The Little Gingerbread Boy, using your fresh ideas and adding your personality! We're going to start by reading the original story written in 1910 by Robert Gaston Herbert. After that, we'll look at a wide variety of published variations of the classic tale. When we've had fun looking over the whimsical variations, you'll be given a set of guiding questions that will help you make modifications. These modifications may include the title, setting, main character's new name and characteristics, other characters involved in the story, the plot, a chant or saying for your new main character (based on, "Run! Run, just as fast as you can! You can't catch me. I'm the Gingerbread Man!"), how does your story end, and is there a message or a moral? Students will most likely not have time to complete their new story by the end of our session, but are encouraged to complete it after our session, and share it with me after our class has ended. I would love to read it, and will happily respond after having done so.

I absolutely love to write and share the joy of writing, and I've taught writing for several years. I understand that writing isn't everyone's cup of tea, so I am beyond happy to share some ways to bring your words to the surface. Oftentimes, it's just a matter of sorting out what's happening in your brain and getting it to come out in the right order. I'm here for you!
