This 50 States class is especially popular with homeschoolers, but I also offer after school and weekend times.

This class is a very fun and efficient way to learn about every state in the United States of America. We will learn about this amazing country's places and people. We will cover 1 state each week and fully explore its land, water, flag, fun facts, resources, and traditions.

I am a very detailed teacher and I present a lot of information. I show many maps and photos on the slides. We see what animals live in each state!

I include fun tips and tricks such as mnemonic devices and acronyms to remember place names, which I know can be confusing and overwhelming to children.
-MIMAL states - The chef in the map - From his hat to boots - the states of Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, and Louisiana
-Humor! - Funny geography jokes and maps - The state of Indiana is colored, and everything else is "Outdiana!" Ha!
HOMES - The Great Lake names of Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, and Superior
How to remember the 50 state capitals - Which capitals begin with the same letter as the state? - for example - Honolulu, Hawaii or Dover, Delaware
What places look like objects - for example, the Lower Peninsula of Michigan looks like a mitten!

I include must know facts about American history such as famous people biographies and basic explanations of the 13 colonies, wars, and westward expansion.

It is so exciting when your home state is being taught that week!

I frequently stop to ask for questions or to ask the learners about their experiences living in or visiting that state. I will give a study guide after each class containing all of the information we learned.

Some students have liked this class so much that they completed all 50 states and then began the series again, or switched to my similarly-styled World Geography Countries class.

You can join this class just once, or for a few weeks, a few months, or as a complete academic school-year long course.
