Join me for a 6-week literary journey to learn about Benjamin Franklin told from a first-hand account...himself! Amazon: "A lively, spellbinding account of his unique and eventful life, now a classic of world literature". Yale University Press: "A classic of eighteenth-century American history and literature, Benjamin Franklin's Autobiography has had an influence perhaps unequaled by any other book by an American writer". Dover Thrift Editions: "One of the most popular works of American literature, this charming self-portrait has been translated into nearly every language". Read in high schools around the United States, The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin is a classic work of literature covering the life of one of America's famous historical figures. The book, which started as a letter to his son, covers Franklin's life from his childhood through his work as a printer, inventor, and statesman. Once enrolled, you will receive a printable worksheets that correspond with the weekly lessons (found in the Syllabus below). The class is split into three main categories: Part 1: Introduction to Reading Part 2: Chapter Summaries (There are 15 chapters in this book.) Part 3: A Literary Analysis All you need to do is read, watch the videos, and follow along in your workbook. Easy enough! * Please note that this class is taught as a secular literary analysis. I am NOT a history instructor nor an expert in American history. With that being said. This is an English Language Arts class. Our goal is to read the story and use literary analysis to understand: * The Author and Context * Conflict and Plot * Setting * Characters * Theme

Orientación para padres
The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin is an autobiographical book about the life of Benjamin Franklin told through his experiences and memories. The book covers themes like self-betterment, religion, wealth, and virtue, as would be expected from Puritan writing during the 1700s. We DO NOT approach this book or the reading as allegory, instead focusing on the literary elements and context of the book and the time in which it was written. I strongly suggest reviewing the following literary analyses for additional insights so you may make your own conclusions about the text before registering for this class:
