Students will learn about the planet, Uranus.

Students will learn about the atmosphere, the moons, the tilt and different features of Uranus. They will learn about why the planet has a solid sea blue appearance, what elements are in its atmosphere, the history of its discovery and exploration as well as a possible theory as to why it rotates on its side.

The class will begin with a warm up, followed by a tour and a discussion about Uranus and then end with a student activity where learners develop ideas for a space mission to Uranus. There will also be some final thoughts before closing. During the class, a presentation on Google Slides will be given with photos that make Uranus come to life.

Learners are encouraged to participate by asking questions and sharing comments. Participation and discussion help make the classes more fun and interesting. If students do not feel comfortable sharing verbally, they are welcome to share on chat.

I believe in student centered teaching. Students will be able to interact with me and with each other throughout the class. They can interact verbally and/or through chat. They are encouraged to share what they know about space and ask questions about space as well.

Students of all levels of knowledge are welcome; from those with a beginning level of knowledge to those who are experts on space, astronomy, and the planet, Uranus. Students are encouraged to bring an interest in astronomy, space, the Solar System, the planets as well as a desire to learn.
