Nivel de inglés: desconocido
Grado de EE. UU. 1 - 4
Nivel Beginner - Intermediate
Did you know that 65% of 2nd-4th graders in the US read below grade level? Learning to read can be frustrating. But it can also be fun. Childrens’ brains love to discover patterns. I love using phonics and word families when teaching children to read; they are fabulous for beginner readers as they build their confidence and let them see success quickly. The English language follows so many different patterns and rules that it is often confusing for our younger students to learn to read. This class will help simplify their pre-reading skills! OK. So, you have to read for 20 minutes, but you don’t want to. Maybe your mom or dad or teacher even has a timer—yikes! This kid-friendly lesson features well-loved video game characters and concepts to reinforce the development of reading skills laid out in the national Common Core State Standards. Colorfully-illustrated and high-interest slides and reading comprehension passages use diamond swords, potions, skeletons, zombies, and creepers to add an element of excitement to reading time. This class is designed to help even the most reluctant reader begin the process of learning to read along with enjoy reading time, and even laugh! The class outline includes the following each week - Introductions/Check in - Main class topic for the week introduction - Student interactive lesson review - Interactive Short Story (Read Aloud) Book 1 - Closure with exit ticket They will practice all of the reading skills they need in school, including the following schedule: Week 1: prefixes and suffixes Week 2: common spelling patterns & vocabulary development Week 3: reading comprehension: reading for main ideas and details, identifying cause and effect, and sequencing reading fluency Week 4: vocabulary development & reading comprehension: making inferences Week 5: understanding and describing characters, setting, conflict and plot; and integrating and comparing texts Week 6: reading fluency My goal for the students is to read and spell a group of words independently. They will also start recognizing and sounding out words in the interactive slides they are encounter during class. It is with the permission of Harper Collins” that I will allow students to reach the book out loud during class (if able to read). #academic
