Optional practice after the class is over.Experiencia de clase
This class is great for instrumentalists, singers, and kids who just enjoy or want to learn more about music. This class will be interactive with a mix of listen + guess games, learners giving verbal answers, and learners getting to demonstrating their skill individually. The math behind the rhythms will be explained, but we'll also be using fun and silly words to help us decode and remember the rhythms. We will decode and perform rhythms that include quarter notes, sets of two eighth notes, and quarter rests. If time permits we will also cover eighth rests and single eighth notes. Needed materials: A small rhythm/percussion instrument (see supply list for more details)
Otros detalles
Lista de útiles escolares
Please bring a small percussion/rhythm instrument such as a hand drum, or two drum sticks or wooden dowels that can be hit together or 'drummed' on a food container such as an overturned yogurt or oatmeal container. We will be focusing on the rhythms and not the instrumental technique. A plastic marker or two for the 'sticks' and a plastic food container is perfectly acceptable combination. Shaking instruments such as maracas, or plastic eggs filled with rice, are not suitable for this class as their sound is too muffled to produce the precise rhythms.
Recursos externos
Los estudiantes no necesitarán utilizar ninguna aplicación o sitio web más allá de las herramientas estándar de Outschool.
Fuentes
We will be using rhythms from https://www.rhythmrandomizer.com and students can also use that website for more practice after class.
Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Hello, My name is Mrs. VW.
I teach music and other classes on Outschool.
I have experience teaching orchestra, band, choir and general music in school classrooms and for private groups such as home school and fine arts organizations. I have over 15 years of experience teaching private instrument lessons, mainly string instruments and piano.
Our world is full of beauty and I love helping others tune in to notice, create and share beautiful things.
When I'm not teaching or creating music, I enjoy reading and learning new things!
Note:
If you are thinking of purchasing a string instrument in preparation for a class, you are welcome to message me about good quality but still affordable recommendations. Buying a too-cheap and poorly made 'violin shaped object' off Amazon or other sellers can result in frustrations with an instrument that breaks, is hard to tune, hard to play etc.
