Grado de EE. UU. 1 - 4
My teaching style is calm, nurturing, and engaging. I believe that sparking a child's imagination and interest is essential for success in reading, spelling, and overall mastery of language arts. As a Waldorf-inspired educator, I focus on integrating academics with the arts, allowing me to nurture and engage each child uniquely. My goal is to connect with the child's head, heart, and hands—or through thinking, feeling, and willing—utilizing the calming effects of creative arts and intriguing reading and spelling concepts. My approach is particularly beneficial for children who face learning difficulties, making my teaching style well-suited for all types of learners. The student will be welcome to share with me all his thoughts and feelings about the class and the academic materials learned. At Waldorfunn schools, each tutoring class begins with a deep breath. I will recite a verse to create a positive atmosphere for our learning experience. Similarly, each class concludes with a moment of gratitude, a closing verse, and a heartfelt farewell. Below, you will find a breakdown of the work I will do with your child. In the first class, I will evaluate where the child is currently at. Alternatively, the parent can share specific topics they would like me to focus on with the child. This program is ideal for native English speakers who want to perfect their spelling. This course also is a perfect fit for foreign language learners and ESL students who want to improve their English skills. This course is EFL, TEFL, TESOL friendly. Beginner Reader • Sounding out the alphabet is not the same song as singing the alphabet. • Oh, the vowels have two sounds! • What is a syllable? Heartbeats in a word, and why do we need to know? • What are short vowel sounds, and why do they sound this way in certain words? What is a closed syllable • short "a" sound with Cinderella story or other. • short "e" sound with The Little Red Hen story. • short "i" sound with The Gingerbread Man story. • Short "o" sound with The Frog And The Princess story. • Short "u" sound with Bunny Loves To Learn story. Growing reader • What are digraphs? • The "th" sound with The Tree Little Pigs story. • The "sh" sound with The Elves and the Shoemaker story. • The "ch" sound with Chicken little story. • The "qu" sound u always follow q with The Snow Queen story. • The "ck" sounds "c" and "k" get stuck together. • The "ng" sound with The Ugly Duckling and The Old King's New Clothes. • The "wh" sound with Snow White story. • R-Controlled vowels, let's meet Mister Bossy R. • The "ar", "er", "ir", "or" and "ur" with The Sorcerer's Apprentice story. Rising Reader I will be using different stories from The fables book. • The letter "e" is magically special, and how he can convince another vowel to finally say their name. The concept of short vowel sounds versus long vowel sounds with the magic of silent "e". Let's explore how this works in some funny sentences. Examples are: 1. I can walk with a cane. 2. The fish fin is fine. 3. I put my cap on my head and my cape on my shoulder. 4. I hope the rabbit can hop. 5. Do not take note of this. 6. I open my kite kit. 7. I plan to go on a plane travel to ... Advance reader I will be using different moral stories from Aesop's book. • What happens when two vowels team up together? Does the first vowel do all the talking? • Two vowels together in one syllable, one heartbeat in a word. • The long "a" sound with super team "ai" and "ay". • The family sound "eigh" makes a long "a" sound only when all together. • The long "e" sound with the super team "ee" and "ea." • The trickster "y" also sounds like "e" at the end of a word. • What about "ey" together? • The all-mixed-up team "ei" and "ie" • The long "i" sound made with trickster Mister Y. Oh! "y" is super good at pretending to be "i" at the end of a word and with magic "e". • The family sound "igh" makes a long "i" sound only altogether. • The long "o" sound super team "oa", "ow". • The clear long "u" sound happens alone or with magic "e" • the unique sound of "oo", "ou", "ew" and "ui". Spelling Mastery I will be using American idiom and proverbs. Knowing the difference between open and closed syllables will significantly help with spelling! It's all about the different beats in words. I will also teach your child many practical spelling rules through memorable mini-story or and examples, which will significantly improve their spelling skills. Depending on your child's needs, I provided a list of examples of these essential spelling rules. • Vowels make long sounds in open syllables and do not need to pair with other vowels. In closed syllables, vowels must work together to produce a long sound unless a silent "e" is present to do its magic. • Long "a" sound, when to use "ai" or "ay". • What about "ei" and "ey" that also make a long "a" sound? • The "eigh" spelling list and challenge. • With the long "e" sound, can we know for sure when to use "ee" or "ea"? • When to spell "ei" or" ie"... "ei" always after "c" • Trickster Mister Y comes along to make the long "e" sound at the end of a word since the silent "e" is too busy making other magic. • The long "i" sound at the end of a word, trickster "y" to the rescue! • Trickster Mister Y is really good at pretending to be "i". • The "igh" triumph challenge list. • The long "o" sound spell "oa" is often in the middle of a word, and "ow" is often at the end of a word. • No words end with a simple "o" that is another silent trick of Mister E. • When to use "k" or "c" to make their respective hard sound. "C" goes with "a", "o" and "u", and "k" goes with the other two. • The silent "l" after "a", "o", and "u". • The "dge" spelling pattern blocks Mister E from doing its magic on the vowel before. • The twisting way the digraph "wr" spells words that all have some twisting twist to it! Ex: wrist, wreaths, writing, wrong... • The milk truck rule with "ck" or "k". "Ck" goes with short vowels and "k" goes with consonants. • The floss rule, double the "f", "l", "s" and "z" at the end of a one-syllable word. • When and when not to double any consonant in words like diner or dinner. The world of suffixes, the how and when to drop the silent "e" • Consonant suffixes: -es, -ed, -ing, -ive, -able, -en, -er, -est, -ish, -y. • When and when not to double the consonants when adding vowel suffixes. • Vowel suffixes: -s, -ful, -less, -ness, -ly, -ty, and -ment). • Knowing the proper root word will help us with "tion", "sion" and we can pretend with "ing" • Prefixes usually don't change the spelling, but the prefix "all" is all missing one "l". • The letter "s" never follow "x" like in excersise or exciting. • The letter "e" also prevents "v", "u" and "i" from ending a word. The world of Homophones can be learned and mastered with funny sentence dictation that will help the child memorize the when and when. Examples of these are as follows. • I ate eight tomatoes at dinner at my favorite diner. • There was a leak in the sink, and we plung it with a green leek. • She used flour to bake Bread, and she decorated the house with roses and flowers. There's so much more fun, along with tips and tricks, to make spelling enjoyable and help your child become an amazing writer! I hope you will enroll your child in my tutoring classes so we can embark on an interactive and engaging journey together, all while providing you with some peace of mind!
