Apoyo de tutoría: objetivos de educación especial/IEP

En esta clase de tutoría, nos centraremos en crear un plan de aprendizaje para cada estudiante. Esto incluirá un enfoque en los intereses y pasatiempos que se corresponden directamente con los objetivos del IEP. ¡Los estudiantes se sentirán inspirados y realizados!

Proyectos
1-2 horas por semana. Students will be asked to keep a progress journal and folder.
Informe de progreso
Students will receive a progress report based on goal/skill based gains. The progress report will come after every 8 sessions. This will be dependent on the time period of each individual student's learning plan.

Engage in a journey of individualized understanding.  We will follow blooms taxonomy to interpret Individual education plan based goals/skills needed to advance in the educational atmosphere.  This journey will be explored with journal prompts, interest based learning tools, and project completion. 

Over the individual learning plan students will better understand their IEP goals/skills.  This will allow them to analyze their own progress, evaluate their assignments and create new goals on their own terms.  This class can provide data on self reflection, social skills and growth mindset. Students will be able to take control of their own educational path and apply their new found skills in the classroom and real world atmosphere!

All tutoring sessions are designed with the individual student in mind. The student's exceptionalities and learning diagnoses will be reviewed, incorporated, and executed through the entire learning plan process.
Orientación para padres
It is optional to have students sign up for IXL. This is a great tool to monitor progress as it includes an assessment for reading and math. It can also be extended to other subjects. This is not necessary to complete the class and it will be based on individual student need.
Requisitos previos
It is important that students feel confident in discussing their education journey in a virtual setting. There will be opportunities for parents to join in on the learning experience, especially if that makes the learner comfortable!

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente

In my education based career I have worked with very diverse students.  AS a G.E.D instructor we had many students from other countries working in our summer youth work program. Additionally I have worked with many different groups students within a vast array of school districts across the central Pennsylvania region.  This has included York City, Harriburg, Perry, Mechanicsburg, Steelton, Central York, Red Lion and Central Dauphin to name a few.  

During my role as teacher, special education director and finally program director there was a major focus on social skills groups and counseling.  We all had to be trauma-informed trained and extremely aware of cultural ties within family needs and transitions.  It was always important to me to approach each student and family as an individual unit that may take a different point of view to address their specific goals within the school atmosphere.  

This special education setting gave me a great perspective on how to focus on each individual student while using a framework of curriculum programming.  These fluctuating and intricate demands implored me to become more detailed and thoughtful with how I plan a students individual education track.  As well as how we would monitor and communicate those plans with school districts, community and other counseling based organizations that were assigned to us by the county.
