The student will be given a progress report after the final session. Recommendations will be made to proceed to the next course, repeat the course, or to pursue tutoring with the instructor.Experiencia de clase
This class is designed to enhance the student's participation in a school band program. Beginners and developing students alike can benefit from some attention to tone development. Instruction Method: Students will learn through an interactive call and response discussion. The instructor then models the skills. The students then participate in call and response practicing of the skills. Sometimes the entire class will play and other times the teacher will call on individual students to play for the class. Time Structure: class sessions are 50 minutes each. 1) review 2) new concepts 3) practical application on the instrument 4) lessons wrap-up 5) assignment for the next session. Topics: 1) What defines a good tone quality 2) What positively and negatively influences tone quality 3) How to develop good tone quality 4) How to maintain good tone quality while learning other skills.
Metas de aprendizaje
The student will learn to identify what is and is not a good tone quality, what influences tone quality (positively and negatively), the skills necessary to develop the ideal tone quality, and then how to maintain good tone while learning new skills.
The student will practice the concepts as modeled by the instructor and written on class worksheets.
