This is a one-time drum and percussion lesson designed to learn about your child's musical interests and skill level in order to create a customized plan that will allow them to accomplish their desires and have fun playing music. Students of all levels from beginner to advanced are welcome to sign up for this class. I teach snare, mallets, timpani, accessories, drum set and hand drums. If a student is just starting out in the world of drums and percussion then I recommend beginning on the snare drum or practice pad. During the lesson I encourage students to play any songs, exercises from method books and/or school band music that they have been working on. If the student is brand new and has no previous experience then I will provide music and exercises to start with prior to the lesson. I also encourage students to discuss any desires or goals that they have for playing these instruments. Then by taking an assessment of where they are in their journey with regards to technique, reading and timing we can create a customized individual plan and talk about what it will take to actually achieve their musical desires. Hello! My name is Sean. I teach private and group drum/percussion lessons. I have over 25 years of professional experience as a drum/percussion teacher and performer. I have worked with students ranging from 5-18 years of age and I have taught as a percussion teacher and ensemble director at many private and public institutions.
I teach snare, mallets, timpani, accessories, drum set and hand drums. In my lessons we focus on reading music, proper technique and timing.
Many of my students just want to have fun learning an instrument and playing their favorite songs, some students play percussion with various groups and a few have gone on to major in music at some of the finest colleges in the country including the Eastman School of Music, Northwestern University and Princeton University.
I earned a Master of Music degree in percussion performance from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Music degree in percussion performance from the Chicago College of Performing Arts.
In my free time I enjoy trading futures and options and training for different types of races including marathons, stair climbs and triathlons.Reseñas
