In between each class, your child should read the chapters as outlined in the course description to be able to participate in the next class meeting. I do like to provide learners with an opportunity to engage with the book on days we do not meet by giving a "challenge" activity. This could be something relate to writing, drawing, and/or creating. It is an OPTIONAL activity for your child. Time spent on the challenge would depend on the time you or your child would like to put in to participate in the challenge.Experiencia de clase
Welcome to the Treehouse series book club! Perhaps you have taken Book 1 (The 13 Story Treehouse) with me or maybe not, but either way this is a great way to get involved with an interactive online book club! This course will provide students an engaging opportunity to participate in an online book club over the course of 4 meetings. Your child will be part of the fun as we read The 26 Story Treehouse by Andy Griffiths. We'll begin our first class by reading Chapter 1 and 2 together and then have time to interact with the story not only with reading skill activities (such as comprehension, predictions, connections, and character development), but also with some games and hands-on activities to engage to your child in the book. Your child will have time to interact with others in the class to share about the book! During the course of this class, students will need to read 4 chapters in between each class meeting. I will be asking guided reading questions and students will be encouraged to share their thoughts and feelings about the story each time we get together for our book club. As a way to further your child's engagement with the book and to provide additional opportunities for your child, I will provide a class challenge after each meeting. This allows your child to spend time outside of class to build, write, or draw based on the given challenge prompt. These activities are optional and for parents looking for a bit more, it's a great way to have reading/writing practice for your child. Class meeting 1: I will read Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 and will be begin book club Class meeting 2: Discuss Chapters 3, 4, and 5 Class meeting 3: Discuss Chapters 6, 7, 8, and 9 Class meeting 4: Discuss Chapters 10, 11, 12, and 13 *Note: This is book #2 in the Treehouse Series and would be helpful if your child has already read book #1, The 13 Story Treehouse, but it is not required.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I believe in sharing the joy of reading and love to help cultivate that in young readers. Reading is the foundation for all learning and I used my experience as a licensed PK -6 teacher, with a Master's in Reading, to develop reading skills during our book club. My work as an elementary school librarian allows me to draw on a variety of literacy activities to help make a positive reading experience. Your child will be drawn into this funny and wild adventure from the Treehouse series. I definitely have an animated and enthusiastic reading style to make the story fun and engaging.
