Students will work their way through a treasure map listening to and solving clues. As each clue is solved students will search through their homes for an item that fits the clue. (For example: “When I’m tired and want to sleep, I might want this to hold and to keep.”) Once they have found one item that fits the clue, (there are sometimes multiple items that will work for each clue), they will have an opportunity to show and share it, being encouraged to think of descriptive words (adjectives) and create complete sentences with those words. (For example: “My stuffed tiger is soft and cuddly.”) To promote a fun and safe environment for all, at the beginning of class we will go over the Treasure Hunt Rules. 1) We are here to learn and have fun. Sometimes the clues can be solved in more than one way. If someone has a different idea than us that is not only okay but it's great. 2) If you can’t figure out the clue that is okay too. We will help you as a group if you need it. 3) When it is someone else’s turn to speak we will give them our attention and listen. 4) When we are done class we will put our items back where we found them. Each class will have a different topic. Once we have worked our way through all of the topics I will start the rotation again. A tentative schedule is as follows: Week of Jul. 1: Rooms of Your Home Week of Jul. 8: Textures Week of Jul. 15 Feelings/Emotions Week of Jul. 22: The 5 Senses Week of Jul. 29: Toys Week of Aug. 5: Letters of the Alphabet Please note there will be no classes the weeks of Aug. 12th or Aug. 19th as I will be on my summer break. Classes will resume Aug. 26th. Week of Aug. 26: Colours Week of Sept. 2: Seasons Week of Sept. 9: Rooms of Your Home Week of Sept. 16: Textures Week of Sept. 23: Feelings/Emotions Week of Sept. 30: The 5 Senses Week of Oct. 7: Toys Week of Oct. 14: Letters of the Alphabet Week of Oct. 21: Colours Week of Oct. 28: Seasons Week of Nov. 4: Rooms of Your Home Week of Nov. 11: Textures Week of Nov. 18: Feelings/Emotions Week of Nov. 25: The 5 Senses Week of Dec. 2: Toys Week of Dec. 9: Letters of the Alphabet Week of Dec. 16: Colours Please note there will be no classes the Week of Dec. 23rd as I will be taking a Christmas break with my family. Schedule subject to change at the teacher's discretion. Dates for January 2025 and on will be added closer to that time.

This class will help students develop their social skills, interacting with others, and listening when others are sharing. It will also give students the opportunity to grow in their communication skills as they will all have the chance to share about their items. In their sharing, they will also be able to work on their English skills as they will be encouraged to use descriptive words (adjectives) and talk about their items using full sentences. Each riddle clue will also give students the chance to problem solve and work out what the riddle means. All while having fun.

Hello. My name is Miss Connie and it is so nice to meet you. Thank you for checking out my profile.
Teaching language to students is fun and challenging (we have so many exceptions to the rule). Things such as letter names and sounds, consonant blends and digraphs, word recognition and blending, regular and irregular plurals, creating sentences using descriptive words, and so on, are rewarding to teach, because with all of these things comes growth in the ability to read, write and communicate.
I have always been fascinated by the uniqueness and diversity of animals. They are so many cool and interesting ones out there. Did you know that a blue whale’s tongue weighs more than the average elephant? Or that butterflies taste with their feet? I enjoy incorporating animals into my lessons when I can and hope to offer some classes soon on some specific animals.
I really enjoy working with kids and youth and feel privileged to have worked with them for over 25 years in various capacities including teaching in classroom settings, in community programs, in school assemblies, for homeschool organizations, at summer camps and retreats, at my church, and in online classrooms. Kids and youth are amazing people, each with their own likes, dislikes, personalities, skills, etc. It’s really is cool to meet each one and get to know them a little as we learn and grow.
Besides a love for teaching, I also love playing sports and games with my kids (especially basketball and dutch blitz), being creative with arts and crafts, and getting out in nature (beaches and mountains are both awesome!).
I look forward to meeting many amazing young people and hope to bring fun and excitement to the classroom as we learn and grow.Reseñas
