Do you want to learn more about many of the national parks that are in the United States? I have been to each of these listed national parks and can't wait to teach you all about them :)! Each week we will explore a different national park (and one national monument). Since this class meets in an ongoing format, each week's content stands on its own and does not require previous knowledge or attendance. *Extension activities will be provided for each learner at the beginning of each class. This will help to enhance each learner's knowledge of the park/s that they learn about. At the beginning of each meeting, I will briefly explain what a national park is. Classes will be taught through discussion and a PowerPoint presentation using pictures that I have taken at many of the national parks that I have visited personally, as well as pictures from the National Park Service. My first-hand knowledge of each of these listed national parks allows me to share what I witnessed, learned and explored at each of these parks. We will discuss the geography, geology, wildlife, history and fun facts about each of these listed parks. Learners will have ample opportunity to share their thoughts and ask questions throughout the lesson :)! At the end of each lesson learners will be given a few fun "check for understanding" questions to help them with retaining information about what was taught during the lesson. Learners will also be given the opportunity to share what they learned and liked about the national park discussed. Students only need an interest in nature to enjoy this class. No homework is required for this course, but activities will be provided that learners are encouraged to do to help enhance their learning. The national parks that will be taught in this class are: Yellowstone, Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Sequoia, Mesa Verde, Death Valley, Petrified Forest and Mount Saint Helens. *Please look below for the exact dates of when each national park will be taught. Are you interested in a park not on the list? Check out my "National Parks Tour Round 2 or Round 3" classes and see if your favorite national park will be taught in those classes :). I have a BA in elementary education with a minor in history. I love teaching all subjects but most of all, I love teaching others about the world around them. I have a great love for history, nature and the great outdoors. I have been blessed throughout my life to have spent a lot of time traveling across the United States. During this time, I have been able to explore many of our country's beautiful National and State Parks. My parents were both educators. My dad was also a park ranger for many years before becoming a classroom teacher. My parents both instilled in me at a young age the love for learning, teaching and appreciating nature. I love sharing these same principles with others!
