Do you want to learn more about Mount Rushmore? In this one time class we will learn all about this national memorial, the history of the mountain, the geology, the wildlife, the sacredness of this area and much more! This class will be taught through discussion and using many pictures through slide-share. Many of these pictures I took while visiting Mount Rushmore National Memorial. My first hand knowledge of Mount Rushmore allows me to share my knowledge of what I witnessed, learned and explored at this memorial. I have also thoroughly researched the history of this sacred area to help add to this lesson. In this class we will discuss the history of this mountain: - the sacredness and importance of this mountain to many people - the known names of this mountain - how this mountain was illegally seized by the United States - the process of how the mountain was carved to look as it does today - a brief history/discussion of each president that is carved on the mountain *Students will be given ample opportunity to ask questions and express their thoughts throughout the lesson. At the end of the lesson learners will be given a few fun "check for understanding" questions to help them with retaining information about what was taught during the lesson. Learners will also be given the opportunity to share what they learned and liked about the Paha Sapa (Black Hills), The Six Grandfathers, Mount Rushmore, the wildlife and the geology of this area. Students only need an interest in nature and/or history to enjoy this class. *Follow up activities will be provided for each learner at the end of class. This will help to enhance each learner's knowledge of Mount Rushmore.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Nevada Certificado de Docencia en Educación elemental
I have a BA in elementary education with a minor in history. I am of Native American (Cherokee and Creek) and European descent. My roots are grounded in the history of this country with views from many different perspectives. I love teaching all subjects but most of all, I love teaching young learners about the world around them. I have a great love for history, nature and the great outdoors. My parents were both educators and instilled in me at a young age the love for nature, learning, teaching and appreciating history. I love sharing these same principles with others!
