Tradition: Exploring the Art of Theatrical History is a lecture series that introduces and discusses a musical from the show's conception and the creative minds involved, to the untold backstage stories, and how each show had a unique impact on the industry and larger world. The scope of the series ranges from early musicals as far back as the early 1700s to the contemporary blockbuster. The objective is to give audience members a chance to interact, listen to, and discuss productions both old and new. Class members have included former Broadway artists, Tony Winners, and more. Classes will include conversations, games, video clips, and more. To date, more than 600 lectures presenting 135 musicals have been written and delivered to audiences at across the United States and Internationally. Jarrett Winters Morley is a BroadwayWorld Award-winning Music Director, Producer, Composer, and Performer. In 2021, Jarrett founded his production company JWM: A Theatrical Company, which produces free, accessible concerts and teaches the history behind Broadway shows around the country. Instilled by his parents, Mr. Morley is an active supporter of the arts in the educational system and providing access to the arts. In 2023, in the role of Artistic Director, Jarrett and JWM: A Theatrical Company reached their current pinnacle in producing My Fair Lady On The River, a free, accessible outdoor public performance of the 1956 musical with a 28-piece orchestra, 16 vocalists, and accumulating
over $15,000 in sponsorships, including The Frederick Loewe Foundation.
Prior to his collegiate years, Jarrett studied as a member of the performing arts program at Stagedoor Manor, and as a student in the National High School Institute (Cherubs) at Northwestern University. At Northwestern University, he was given the opportunity to be in the first non-professional company of Charles Mee's The Glory of the World. He has performed at the Oscar Hammerstein II Awards, honoring Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt, alongside Norm Lewis, Randy Rainbow, and Robert Cuccioli. He has also performed at Rockefeller Plaza's Rainbow Room for the Manhattan School of Music's Centennial
Gala, alongside David Loud. Recent engagements include South Pacific On The River (JWM: A Theatrical Company), The Mystery of Edwin Drood (Manhattan School of Music), The Human Comedy! (New York City Center Encores!), The Producers (Tappan Zee Players), and And The World Goes 'Round (Manhattan School of Music).
Mr. Morley made his film debut in 2005 with the documentary Class Act, which explored the need for increased funds in America’s school systems, and the disappearing of the arts. Other TV/Film credits include: The Meyerowitz Stories, Pose, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, New Amsterdam, Mr. Robot, The Deuce, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Manifest, Hunters, The Plot Against America, Billions, and American Horror Story.
In 2021, Jarrett founded his production company JWM: A Theatrical Company, which produces free, accessible concerts, as well as shows at 54Below, Green Room 42, and more. In 2021, Jarrett began his Broadway History Teaching Circuit, which has since expanded to over 20 locations and 4 states. He is the creator of the original theatrical works Morningside and Godless. For Morningside, he wrote the book, music, and lyrics, worked on the show as the music director and conductor, and it was the first student-written Musical Theatre production produced by Manhattan School of Music in their 100-year history.
Mr. Morley has worked as a Music Supervisor, Production Coordinator, Junior Associate, and Voiceover actor for the production company Creative Business Communications, which in turn has worked for corporate clients such as SL Green, Johnson & Johnson, and Wakefern Food Corporation. In 2021, he worked on the development of “Get Happy: Michael Feinstein Celebrates The Judy Garland Centennial”, alongside Elliott Forrest, John Fricke, and Michael Feinstein.
He received his B.M. from Manhattan School of Music in 2020, and his M.A. from Berklee College of Music in 2021. He lives in New York City. Mr. Morley is a proud member of both
Jarrett Winters Morley Biography The Dramatist Guild of America, and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). Mr. Morley’s works have been seen at the Rogue Theatre Festival, FringePVD, and the New York Theatre Festival. In 2022, Mr. Morley was a Fulbright Program finalist and is SAG-AFTRA eligible. Currently, he is in the midst of preparing The History of Into The Woods at 54Below, which will explore the inspiration and background behind the Stephen Sondheim/James Lapine 1987 musical of the same name.
Mr. Morley’s past produced shows with his production company include South Pacific On The River, My Fair Lady On The River at Sutton Place Park, The History of Godspell at 54 Below, and Blank: An Ode To Broadway’s Black History, Together Again…Again!, and Being Present: Celebrating Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month at The Green Room 42. Mr. Morley has interviewed celebrated Musical Theatre individuals such as Lynn Ahrens, Sammi Cannold, Gabrielle Carteris, Van Dean, Stephen Flaherty, Andrew Gerle, Carol de Giere, Joanna Gleason, Peggy Gordon, Rupert Holmes, Dee Hoty, James Lapine, Andrew Lippa, David Loud, Or Matias, Larry Morley, and Will Van Dyke.
As of 2022, Mr. Morley sits on the Manhattan School of Music Alumni Council.
