**Back By Popular Demand** In this 5-day interactive camp, we are going to travel along with Jack and Annie on the Titanic. In each class, we will work on different skills. These skills include comprehension, predictions, vocabulary, and research. On the last day, each student will have the opportunity to present their project! This project will be assigned on the first day of class so that they have all week to complete the assignment. Each student will be assigned a different, real-life person who traveled on the Titanic in 1912. The students can choose how they would like to present their project to the class. They can opt to just simply read the answers to the questions, or be as creative as they want and use BookCreator on the iPad to make their own story. It is completely up to them. I will provide a PDF outlining the project. The project will focus on their assigned passenger/crew member. Some of the questions will be - When were they born/What was their age when they boarded the Titanic? Where were they traveling from? Who were they traveling with? What class ticket did they purchase? What was their ticket number? What were their living conditions on the boat? What was their occupation? Did they survive the sinking of the Titanic? I have done this activity with my 3rd-grade students in a public school setting. They loved making connections in the book to real life passengers. We used BookCreator on the iPad to show their creativity. When they presented, this helped with public speaking as well. As someone who actively participates in Toastmasters, I feel that the earlier someone starts speaking in a group setting, the easier it will be when they get older.
