Experiencia de clase

Welcome to 'Time for German' - an 80 lesson Scheme of Work which will take your learner from complete beginner to pre-intermediate level in the German language. More importantly though, your learner will have lots of fun along the way and will develop a love of language learning. 'Time for German 101' contains the first 16 lessons, is a great introduction to the German language and is loosely based on the lessons on my 'Zeit für Deutsch' website , but adapted and improved for Outschool. The website is very popular and used by German teachers all over the world. Students do not require any previous knowledge of German and every lesson starts with fresh new vocabulary so they can join this ongoing course at any time. This course can therefore be treated as either a taster/short course where you learn the basics or as part of a longer scheme of work. A printable sheet containing all vocabulary for each lesson will be provided in the classroom a few days before each lesson starts and an additional activity will also be provided so that the learning can continue outside of the classroom. These 'additional activities' include crosswords, wordsearches and translation activities and I find that many of my students have a 'Time for German' folder that they keep all of their documents in to revise and remind them of all the learning done in class.

Throughout my many years experience of teaching German, students have often said that my lessons were 'easy', despite the ambitious learning objectives of the lessons. In my previous schools, I was the co-operative learning specialist and school lead, employing creative learning strategies and techniques to make my lessons more engaging, fun and co-operative. Throughout the course, I will use fun slides and activities to engage the students and learners will also be able to practise conversations with each other. I will ask lots of questions to build up the student's knowledge into functional sentences and at the end of the class, students will take part in a fun quiz to test out their new knowledge. Here is a brief summary of the learning goals of the first four weeks of the course:

***Learners are currently on lesson 5 of the cycle***

This ongoing course is on a 16-lesson loop. This means that after lesson 16, the course will return to lesson 1. On completion of all 16 lessons (from whatever start point), your child will receive a certificate (please request this). Your child may then want to repeat the course to consolidate their knowledge or they may want to start my 'Time for German 102' course. The 'Time for German 102' course is synchronised with this course if you would like to take both courses at the same time and fast-track your German progress. Many of the topics with similar lesson structure and activities but different vocabulary such as 'Parts of the Body', 'Clothes', 'Animals' and lots more are taught in the same week on the other course.

Recommended course sequence:

1 - Time for German 101 (16 Lessons)
2 - Time for German 102 (16 Lessons)

Then you will be ready for the '103 Track'. It does not matter in which order you do the following courses but this is the order that they will take place on the same day and in the same time slot. Just make sure you book onto the follow-up course and complete all 48 lessons in 103:

3 - Time for German 103 - Beginner to Intermediate World Languages Course: Version 1 - Reading Focus (16 Lessons)
3 - Time for German 103: Grimm German Grammar 1 - Rapunzel's Routine & Conjunctions (4 Lessons)
3 - Time for German 103: Grimm German Grammar 2 - Hansel and Gretel (4 Lessons)
3 - Time for German 103 - Beginner to Intermediate World Languages Course: Version 2 - Verb Focus (16 Lessons)
3 - Time for German 103: Grimm German Grammar 3 - Dornröschen and the Perfect Tense (4 Lessons)
3 - Time for German 103: Grimm German Grammar 4 - The Frog Prince (4 Lessons)

***Refunds***
Please refer to the Outschool refund policy. I do not give refunds/credits if you miss a class or can't make a class you have enrolled in. However, the same lesson runs on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays so if you cannot make your regular lesson, I will do my best to accommodate you in one of my other classes. If you cannot make any of the lessons, please unsubscribe and then resubscribe when you can attend again.

***Behaviour***
I have high expectations of behaviour. As an Outschool parent, I understand how frustrating it can be when one child spoils the lesson for the other children. I go over my expectations at the start of the lesson but my main rules are putting you hand up when you want to speak and not excessively playing with filters and emojis.

Lista de útiles escolares
A document containing all of the vocabulary for each lesson will be provided. Students can refer to this during the lesson but if you can't print it out, they will be perfectly fine without it.

An additional activity such as a translation sheet will also be provided so that the learning can continue outside of the classroom. This is an 'extra' so the children can complete it only if they want to.

For the quiz near the end of each lesson, the learner should be able to access Nearpod on their web browser. If this isn't possible, I will simply read out the questions for them to answer.
