Occasionally, the teacher/counselor for this class may not be able to teach and a substitute teacher/counselor from the organization will take her place. Only teachers/counselors who are licensed and trained to teach this materials will serve as a possible substitute for the class. A message will be posted in the Outschool classroom before the class takes place in the event a substitute will be teaching. I am happy to offer a refund to any learner who prefers not to attend the class with a substitute. Please send a message through Outschool in that event and I will issue a refund. This is considered a missed meeting and you are not entitled to a refund. ✅Refunds are not guaranteed in the event that your learner misses a past or future class meeting due to a schedule conflict, and will depend on the class-specific refund policy. ✅If your learner’s meeting time changes because of daylight saving time starting or ending for several world regions, you are not entitled to a refund if they’re unable to attend. Please review your learner’s schedule ahead of time to ensure you know when classes are meeting.

This class focuses on understanding ADHD and learning strategies for managing ADHD and the range of emotions that accompany the disorder. Topics will not be therapeutic in nature. This is not offering therapy for learners. This class is designed to allow for guided and controlled conversation around the topic of ADHD. Learners will be encouraged to be encouraging, inclusive, and positive with each other. The teacher (a licensed school counselor) will guide the conversations and keep the conversations focused on the topic for that class. The structure of the class allows the teacher tightly controlling the topics, content, and conversation to assure each class session is in line with Outschool's policy.

Rachel Smith is the teacher for this class. She is a licensed elementary school counselor with over 18 years of (lived) experience working with small groups of children to support them in developing the skills necessary to live and function successfully with ADHD. She is a trained expert and professional in handling the range of emotions that come with living with ADHD and supporting young learners in dealing with these emotions successfully.
