Welcome to the stage! "Theater auf Deutsch" is a dynamic and interactive German course where language learning comes alive through acting, storytelling, and creative expression. Over the course of 8 weeks, learners explore the world of theater in a playful, supportive online environment—entirely in German! Each week, learners build confidence and fluency by stepping into different characters, expressing emotions, improvising scenes, and performing short skits with their peers. Whether your child is shy or outgoing, this course is designed to help every learner feel seen, heard, and encouraged. With a mix of drama games, movement, voice work, and classic storytelling, students not only expand their vocabulary and improve pronunciation—they also develop social-emotional skills, teamwork, and creativity. No acting experience? No problem! This course is for all language learners, especially those who enjoy learning by doing and love using their imagination. Icebreakers + theater warm-ups Basic stage directions in German (gehen, stehen, zeigen, sprechen) Introduce key theater vocabulary (Emotionen, Bewegung, Stimme) Week of May 5th: Wer bin ich? – Charaktere erfinden Build characters with simple adjectives & props Practice describing people (groß, mutig, lustig…) Mini-roleplay: “Ich bin ein …!” Week May 12th: Gefühle zeigen Emotion-focused vocabulary & expressions Mime and guess game (“Zeig mir… traurig, wütend, verliebt!”) Create short emotion scenes in pairs Week of May 19th: Die große Stimme – Laut und deutlich! Voice training: volume, tempo, intonation Tongue twisters (Zungenbrecher) in German Read a mini-dialogue with expression Week of May 26th: Märchen & Mini-Szenen Retell parts of classic fairy tales (z. B. Rotkäppchen, Bremer Stadtmusikanten) Practice sequencing (zuerst, dann, danach…) Group storytelling with prompts Week June 2nd: Impro-Theater auf Deutsch Improv games (z. In this class, we will occasionally use Nearpod and Kahoot quizzes through a link that the teacher shares with the learner. The learner will not need to sign in. In addition, we might use a Google document for written assignments and vocabulary. Occasionally, the teacher will share educational, appropriate youtube videos to provide additional material.
Requisitos previos
Leaners should be able to speak and understand German (at least A2 level/German 2). Please reach out if you are not sure if this is the right level for your learner. We're happy to help you find the best course for your learner!

The course is led by a native German speaker with professional training in drama education from Germany and experience teaching theater classes in schools, bringing both linguistic and theatrical expertise to every lesson. The educator has a Master's Ed. degree and is certified to teach.
