Each week your child will be responsible for reading selected pages from The Wild Robot, completing a simple comprehension activity as they read, and writing a friendly letter retelling the details of what they read. In the last two weeks of class, your child will complete research and write a persuasive paragraph that will be shared in class. You'll also find Rabbit Trail Ideas which are science activities you can do outside of class to extend the learning. These activities are optional.Experiencia de clase

Calling all robot lovers! Dive into The Wild Robot as we learn about the topics Roz, the robot, is learning about during her island adventure. Every week your child will be responsible for reading the assigned pages, completing a comprehension task, and writing a journal entry before class starts. Note: Please purchase or lend The Wild Robot by Peter Brown from the library. There is required reading in between each class. You will find the homework that needs to be completed before each class in the file after enrollment. Class Layout: ✔️ Discussion on the weekly assigned reading ✔️ Share journal entries and comprehension tasks (vocabulary, visualizing, questioning, connections) ✔️ Explore rabbit trails of learning- mini lessons on the topic that Roz, the robot, explored during that week's reading We end this 7-week course by writing a persuasive paragraph which we will share during our last class.

The Wild Robot has a Lexile score of 740. Students do not have to be able to read independently since all reading will be done at home.

This book deals with the use of weapons and the death of animals by nature.
You will need to be available to supervise during week 5. I need your assistance in blindfolding your child and supervising using a kid-friendly knife.
