Students will learn about the water cycle, or hydrosphere, of our Earth and how it impacts the Earth's weather and land features. In this class, students will learn what the water cycle is, how it impacts weather, and how weather impacts the ocean, along with how tides and wind work. Students will cover the following topics each week: Week 1- Water Cycle (what are the steps of the water cycle? what does each step do?) Week 2- Clouds (what types of clouds are there, and what weather can we expect to see with each one?) Week 3- Hurricanes and storms (How do hurricanes form? Why is the water cycle such a large role in storm formation with hot and cold?) Week 4- Tides (What are the tides? What is high tide and low tide? How does the moon impact tides? How do large storms cause storm surge?) Week 5- Tides and Wind (How do winds impact tides? How do large storms cause storm surge?) Week 6- Tides impact from storms (What can tides and storms do to land when they work together-erosion, deposition, weathering) Each week, students will participate in a series of activities to engage their learning, while also promoting interaction in the classroom. Each week, students will view an instructional video. Students will then be provided reflection questions to enhance their understanding for each week's objective. Sudents will complete a digital break out room through Breakoutedu.com using information from the week's lessons.

I taught 5th grade for two years, and have taught middle school science for 8 years from 6-8th grade. I am licensed as a science teacher from 6-12 grade, with a Masters in Science Education, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. I like making learning relate to real world experiences so students can connect to material easier than standard memorization. I review in a flow pattern that starts with basic information and expands into complex information to assist students with retention, and like to bring real world conversations in with students connecting their experiences when possible.
