Here's the deal: The English language is complicated. Grammar is complicated. But, the truth is, if you understand the basics, it will open your writing world wide open. This class is about the basic building blocks needed for every complete sentence.

Students should have a fundamental understanding of the parts of speech, although there will be a review the eight parts of speech during the first class.

Class 1: A review of relevant parts of speech, and an introduction to subjects and predicates.
Class 2: The structure of a sentence; identifying subjects & predicates in mentor sentences.
Class 3: Overview of the different types of verbs.
Class 4: Compound subjects and verbs.
Class 5: Prepositional phrases.
Class 6: Put it all together, review, and quiz each other.

This course is structured to be interactive. We will breakdown mentor sentence examples together and will actively write our own sentences, making a game of identifying subjects and verbs and building on sentences. I promise that it will be fun...and painless...AND interesting.
