1-2 horas por semana. Students will read between approximately 45 pages a lesson on their own time. Each lesson, students will have access to the new video and a corresponding one page worksheet with discussion questions and places for fill-in-the blank answers. I assign a short writing assignment focused around that discussion questions. There are also activities like vocabulary words and an optional Kahoot! quiz to test their comprehension from the chapters.Evaluación

C. S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia is a classic British book and movie series. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is the first book published in the series (but second in the overall timeline). It has exciting battles, a strong good versus evil, and a Christian allegory as the main character sacrifices himself and is reborn to defeat the evil witch. Students will read between approximately 45 pages a lesson on their own time. Each lesson, a new video will discuss the pages that the students have previously read. This class does not meet live. The prerecorded sessions will emphasize characters, their motivations, theme, story plausibility, and inferences about what might come next. Lesson breakdown: Students will receive a worksheet and discussion questions for each video. There is one writing assignment to complete after the lesson's readings. I will post vocabulary words for the students to use in a sentence that showcases their understanding of the definition. I will also post a link to an optional Narnia-themed Kahoot! trivia quiz the students can fill out to further immerse themselves in this world. An account is not required. The quiz is 100% optional. Any students that have timed quiz anxiety may simply ignore the link.

Orientación para padres
According to commonsensemedia.org: Parents need to know that the The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is the first book published in C.S. Lewis' classic Chronicles of Narnia series, which children have loved for generations. Lewis, a devout Christian, weaves lots of Christian allegory into the book (and the series as a whole), but the story can be enjoyed on many levels, by all kinds of readers. Expect several violent scenes, including a large battle (axes, clubs, and more are used, and characters are injured and die) and -- spoiler alert! -- the tense, scary, sad death of a major character. Creepy, evil creatures are also described; their leader is the White Witch, who is cruel and shows no mercy. The main characters are clear role models who valiantly help save Narnia from the Witch; even the one who initially falls under her sway learns his lesson, showing the power of repentance and forgiveness. The book was adapted for a movie in 1988 and again for the blockbuster 2005 film The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. An excellent audiobook version is narrated by British actor Michael York.
Lista de útiles escolares
Students will need a copy of the novel The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe to read on their own. It can be borrowed from the library or even listened to as an audio book. The students will not need a physical copy of the story in class, although they may find it helpful to have while filling out their worksheets or working on their writing assignment.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Maestría en Música o Teatro o Artes desde Spalding University
I have an MFA in Creative Writing for Children and Young Adults. I was a substitute teacher for three years before teaching full-time on Outschool. I also teach English Composition at a local nursing college. I have read the Chronicles of Narnia series multiple times. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is an absolute classic. As a little girl, I always wished I could climb into a wardrobe and escape to a magical world with talking animals! I am excited to discuss this story with your student, especially the themes of good versus evil, forgiveness, lying, faith/belief in the unknown, and what's right/wrong. These deep topics (and Lewis' old-fashioned writing style) make for excellent discussion.
