Los viajes que emprendemos: Unidad de estudio literario y escritura creativa de 6 semanas

This unit study will introduce students to creative prose and poetry by Naomi Shihab Nye, encourage critical thinking by learning about different cultures, people, and ideas, and offer opportunities for students to share their ideas through discussion questions, creative writing, and creative projects. 

Students will be assigned reading and writing each week. Discussion questions for each chapter will help them check their comprehension as they read and help them explore larger themes and ideas. The class has a set of short assignments each week to help students pace themselves and have a variety of activities to help them learn. 

Student worksheets will be available via pdf for students to download and print. The pdfs include discussion questions for each chapter, brainstorming sheets for the creative writing projects, a WebQuest, poetry activities, and links to recipes mentioned in the novel. 

Students will also have video mini-lessons they can watch to help them begin their creative writing projects. A new video will be uploaded each week. 

Through videos, art, writing, cooking, and research, my assignments invite students to learn in various ways. 

I will respond to student's questions and the assignments they share with supportive, helpful, and timely feedback.
