In this one-time course, students will learn internet safety and some of the most important rules that should be followed when online and even when using social media. Students will learn about digital footprints, scams, securing passwords, cyber predators, and so much more. This course is only 55 minutes but, will be packed with information; a lecture style class will be presented ending with a question and answer session. This class may be viewed as a beginner to intermediate internet-user course but, as a cyber security professional it is important that students learn how to properly venture around the internet in a positive way before negative effects occur. This class can be intense as it shows that cyber predators are everywhere; many disguised as children. I will be showing two videos that replicate teenagers meeting up with their new online friend but realizing they were not who they said they are; some students find this intense but, this is the reality of negative online behaviors. I do not sugar coat the topic of internet safety — it is vital that students understand the effects and how they need to act if online....this is for their own protection !!
