In this weekly social class, learners will have a princess playdate. Learners are encouraged to dress up in princess or princess-related (butterflies, unicorns, ballerinas, fairies, etc...) costumes or outfits, but are not required to. Learners will join a pretend-play activity with their favorite dolls, stuffed animals, playsets, accessories, or other toys they want to use. We'll use our imaginations to create scenes and stories for our toys. Learners will get to take turns coming up with the events in our adventures. There are so many things to do and places to see. The options are endless! -Let's pretend we're mermaids at the beach! -Let's be fairies in an enchanted forest! -Let's go visit the unicorns in Candy World! To promote creativity, this class will be learner-directed. There will be no set themes for the costumes or the creative play. Learners of all backgrounds and identities from ages 5-8 are welcome to join the class. This course does not promote weapons, exclusion, or bullying. We will follow Outschool's code of conduct. https://support.outschool.com/en/articles/16039-community-standards

Creativity and independence are both very important skills that this class will use so learners can have a place to express themselves. Themes for the princess costumes, outfits, and accessories for the week are student-lead. They will be decided by what each individual learner wants to wear and bring.
Learners of all backgrounds and identities in the 5-8 year old age range are welcome to join the class. This course does promote violence, weapons, exclusion, or bullying. We will follow Outschool's code of conduct.

Hello!
Welcome to my teaching profile! My name is Brittany Atkins.
I have been an early childhood educator for about 15 years, providing education and care as a nanny, nursery and pre-school teacher, ESL teacher, and babysitter.
I have a bachelor’s degree in human services (similar to social work and human development) with several credit hours in education and child development.
I’m a cat-mom to two Bengal cats and live in the countryside where I see lots of wild animals. My cats and the wild animals around me inspired me to study about animals. As an educator and animal lover, I now share my passion for animals with zoology classes on Outschool.
I’m a neurodivergent teacher, so I understand the importance of being patient, kind, understanding, and respectful towards all learners. Adults in charge of a learner's account are always welcome to message me about any questions or concerns.
My lessons naturally involve socialization because I teach about animals. Usually learners like to share their thoughts and opinions about the animals I teach about in class, talk about their pets, bring show-and-tell items, and mention the different types of animals they've seen.
I am not strict about a learner's involvement due to the needs, preferences, and backgrounds of every learner being different.
Learners are not forced to keep their videos on after check in, can choose only to listen into the class discussions, use the chat function, may use fidget gadgets, and learners do not have to ask for permission to be excused for a moment.
I do not believe that education should be "one way teaches all."
To protect and respect the privacy of learners, I will not share recordings. Please contact me to come up with other solutions if needed.
