*If you need a different schedule than 5 days a week, send me a message. I am flexible with the schedule of the 10 lessons. For example, the course can be extended past the 2 weeks if only a certain number of lessons a week works best for you.*

Explore, track and celebrate the Iditarod Race! Find out how this race began! Learn about the most common dog breeds in the Iditarod! Create your own dog sled team and write in an Iditarod Journal based on interactive choices in class!

This course runs for 2 weeks (the usual length of the race) for 5 days a week. Please, see the syllabus for more details of each lesson.  If the winner isn't announced until the weekend, a discussion question will be posted to the classroom page. If the course is running outside of the race time, we discuss the trail and track the race by locations each class.

First Week
The first week introduces the history, the breeds of race, and the mushers. We will begin tracking the race. Students will also choose an item/artifact from the museum page to share about in class. The learning goal this week targets history/social studies literacy standards.

Second Week
In the second week, students add to their Iditarod Journals by choosing different interactive "Choose-Your-Own-Adventure" answers to Race slides(shared on my screen) in class. The learning goal of this week targets several science and literacy standards.
