In this ongoing class, the students will meet four best friends who band together to form an animal rescue shelter. Amy, Ellie, Liz and Marion may be different but they have one thing in common: a love of animals. The students will read half of the book the first meeting and then the other half the next meeting. There will be discussions while working on their comprehension skills. I can’t wait to share these wonderful stories with each student in a welcoming, fun class! *I feel that reading, both alone or with a group, has an impact on who we are and how we interact with the world around us. No matter the students’ ages, or whether it is in a small group setting or large group discussion, conversing about books tends to turn into conversations about being human. Book clubs give each learner a sense of belonging and provides connections in many ways. My ultimate goal is to design a positive, affirming experience each time we come together. *My teaching style is organized and full of fun while being relaxed and friendly at the same time. *Parents, I have chosen this set of books to get the students excited to read and discuss and that is appropriate for this age group. Please research each book on your own so you are comfortable with the content. As the parent or guardian, it is your role to make sure that the books are appropriate for your child as each child is different.
