In this class, we will be analyzing and studying the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the additional amendments subsequently added to the Constitution. We will be referring to various Supreme Court decisions which are related to the amendments. An understanding of the Constitution is significant when studying any period of American History. We will accomplish this through discussion, readings and visuals. Students can interact with me as much as they would like. I encourage questions and debate. If a student were to sign up after the class has begun, they can catch up through the readings which are provided and by asking questions.
Metas de aprendizaje
In this class, students will achieve an understanding of the U. S. Constitution and the framework of government it created. They will acquire an appreciation of how, through the amendment process, the Constitution has grown over the past two centuries.
They will see how the Constitution as a "living", organic document has adapted to continually evolving social and political climates throughout American history.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I was a certified Social Studies teacher, retired now, having taught at one time or another over my 24 year career, various subjects such as Global History, Civics and Economics. However, every year over the course of that time, I taught American History and many years taught A.P. American History as well. I created many electives such as The History of the Supreme Court, The History of the Executive Branch and the History of the Civil War to name a few. I have worked with literally thousands of high school students over that time.
