Girls can rule the world. All you need is confidence.

Ever wish you had the guts to try out for that team or play, or finally talk to that grumpy, intimidating teacher, or actually start that animal welfare club you dreamed up? Or maybe your list of scary stuff is totally different. But here’s the secret to making it all happen:

Confidence. It gives you the power to do everything you want.

Packed with graphic novel strips, fun lists and quizzes, and stories from real girls, this book will reveal the code for confidence—how to make it and how to use it. Soon you’ll be a girl of action, tackling risks that lead to big, big adventure and taking on challenges you've never even imagined. (From the Back Cover).

As your student reads true stories from tons of real girls, The Confidence Code for Girls will teach your learner to embrace risk, deal with failure, and be their most authentic selves.

It’s a paradox familiar to parents everywhere: girls are achieving like never before, yet they’re consumed with doubt on the inside. Girls worry constantly about how they look, what people think, whether to try out for a sports team or school play, why they aren’t getting “perfect” grades, and how many likes and followers they have online.

Katty Kay and Claire Shipman use cutting-edge science and research, as well as proven methods of behavioral change, to reach girls just when they need it the most—the tween and teen years.

Come join friends as we dive into The Confidence Code. Each week students will read part of one Chapter at home and then as a group we will discuss what we read and together we will complete the questions and projects in the book. Students will be required to buy the book which can be found on Amazon or purchase the audible book (or both). Students will also need a journal to write their answers in and complete reflections. At home readings should take no more than 20 minutes a week. We will also have Kahoot Quizzes that the students can use to help review our class discussions.

Please note: This is a book for girls, however, this class is inclusive. Anyone is welcome to join if they believe they will benefit from the book and topics.

Orientación para padres
The class really does not have anything that would be upsetting. However, I noticed in the reviews that some parents were not happy that the book does touch on the LBGTQ. Outschool is inclusive, and we will cover that Chapter.

Week 10: You will need a mask you can color on for our exercise. I use this one listed below, but you can make one as well, you just need it to be white and both sides will need to be able to be drawn on.

Journal/Writing Utensils/Coloring Utensils (We will be creating a Confidence Notebook).
I tell the students that we can have a tea party each class as we discuss topics, so it is up to parents if they wish to provide snacks and drinks.

I am the teacher behind The Self-Confidence Project for Pre-teens and Teens. I have taught these classes/projects for over eighteen years to empower students to reach their goals and build self-esteem. Journals have been a part of my life since I was a child. I successfully completed Law School with four children in tote, mainly because of my journal lists. They kept me sane and organized.
For over twenty years I have had the opportunity to work with students from Pre-K through Graduate School in both a traditional learning atmosphere, and those classes that deviate from neurotypical teaching. I am a retired certified teacher, attorney and mother of seven (and new grandma). I am also an attorney that specializes in Family and Criminal Court. I represented kids in NY for twenty years that were going through family court and was trained to handle kids in crisis.

Every class I create is first implemented in my own household. My teaching philosophy is that all students are individuals and unique learners that must have a stimulating educational environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. It is my desire to create this type of atmosphere where students can meet their full potential. I will provide a safe environment where students are invited to share their ideas and where mistakes are considered education victories.

While incorporating the eight learning styles into each class, I believe that there are five essential elements that are conducive to learning. (1) The teacher's role is to act as a guide. (2) Students must have access to hands-on activities. (3) Students should be able to have choices and let their curiosity direct their learning. (4) Students need the opportunity to practice skills in a safe environment. (5) Technology must be incorporated into the school day.
