🍫 What if everything you touched turned to chocolate? Reading isn’t just an essential skill—it’s an adventure! In this two-session summer book club, students will dive into The Chocolate Touch by Patrick Skene Catling, a fun and meaningful twist on the classic King Midas tale. As they follow John Midas’s chocolate-filled journey, students will practice reading comprehension, vocabulary building, and literary analysis while discussing important themes like greed, consequences, and self-control. 📚 What Students Will Learn: Throughout this course, students will: ✅ Analyze plot events – Track John’s adventures and the lessons he learns ✅ Describe characters – Discuss John Midas and his relationships with others ✅ Recognize themes – Explore deeper messages about choices and consequences ✅ Expand vocabulary – Define and use new words from the book ✅ Support answers with text evidence – Strengthen comprehension skills through discussion 📖 How the Course Works: 📌 Students will receive: ✔️ Comprehension questions & vocabulary lists for assigned chapters ✔️ Guided discussions on character development, themes, and literary elements ✔️ Interactive activities to reinforce key concepts 📌 Class Schedule: 📖 Class 1: ✔️ Review vocabulary & comprehension questions for Chapters 1-6 ✔️ Discuss plot points, character traits, and major themes ✔️ Play a Blooket game based on Chapters 1-6 📖 Class 2: ✔️ Review vocabulary & comprehension questions for Chapters 7-12 ✔️ Discuss key events, themes, and the book’s message ✔️ Play a Blooket game based on Chapters 7-12 📖 By the end of this course, students will have improved reading comprehension, stronger vocabulary skills, and a deeper understanding of the story’s themes—all while having fun!
