We will discuss bugs (insects) and their relatives-spiders, millipedes, centipedes and other arachnids. Depending on the weekly topic, I will have live bugs/arachnids for class and will always have biofacts (specimens) and photos for observing. We may also watch videos of bugs in flight or bugs in colonies depending on the weekly topic. Each club class will review the parts of a bug/arachnid and specialized mouthpart for that week. Week 1-January 7-Roaches Week 2-January 14-Crickets Week 3-January 21-Mantids Week 4-January 28-Bees/wasps

I am a former zookeeper and educator for over 10 years. I have taught all grade levels, scouts, adults, homeschool and other special interest groups. I currently teach mostly bug-based classes as Kim’s Critter Classes for homeschool and scout groups.
My classes are discussion based where the students lead the learning within the topic of the class. I include both biofacts and live animals and insects in my classes and try to incorporate a craft or game with every lesson.
I have hand-raised kangaroos, binturongs, aardvarks and other animals that are in zoos across the country. I have also presented animals on tour with Jack Hanna.
