Having good grammar skills and understanding is important but all those terms and rules can seem complicated. What if you’re not sure how to tell a simple sentence from a complex sentence, an adverb from an adverbial phrase (and is it fronted or not?), or an inverted comma from one that has the good sense to stay the right way up? Don’t worry though, in this ongoing class we take a look at various aspects of SPaG and practice identifying and using them in an informal, confidence-building atmosphere. As this is an ongoing class, lessons do not ‘build’ on each other and learners may join at any point without needing to have attended other classes, or may ‘dip’ in and out to join for specific aspects of grammar if preferred. Please note that not all three aspects of SPaG will be looked at in every lesson (in order to make sure students aren’t being rushed in the time allowed). Classes will usually cover one or two aspects during each lesson. Planned schedule: A schedule for the next few weeks will be regularly updated here. Week beginning: 11th Mar: Progressive tenses 18th Mar: Hyperbole and Idioms 25th Mar: Gerunds, Infinitives and Imperatives 1st Apr: Grammar and Punctuation Challenge Please note that although I am UK - based and use British spellings in the class, (in any notes I type or in slides, etc), any spelling rules covered in class are standard in English (e.g. changing ‘y’ endings to ‘ies’ endings for plurals, etc). I will, however, discuss any differences in UK/ Australian and American spellings as we come across them.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Writing is my passion and as well as majoring in English at university, along with Theatre Arts, I've almost 20 years of experience in teaching English in primary schools. Over those years, I have worked regularly with groups of children specifically on English writing skills and also SPaG lessons daily in term time for several years; as well as teaching English online. I have also tutored students in SPaG skills on a 1:1 basis over the last 3 years, to improve general skills and for tests and exams.
I have edited both creative and formal work over many years on a voluntary basis and have recently joined the writing/ editing group for an educational platform.
