2-4 horas por semana. The taking apart of the electronic and putting it back together will be done outside of class and will require adult supervision.Experiencia de clase
Boomer loves to take apart stuffed animals, balls, and plastic toys. This is great for learning and brain development in animals. The same is true for children. Along with the learning aspect, taking electronics apart is great to build self regulation, peek curiosity and promote flexibility. This is a live class so it is a bit different than the Flex Take It Apart Class. Week 1-The class will start by showing learners a video of Boomer taking his stuffed animal apart and why this is interesting for dogs. Students will brainstorm why they think that taking apart an electronic is interesting. Then the students will share the electronic that they will take apart. They will need to introduce it to the class. They will tell what it is and tell what they think they will find inside. Once all electronics are shown, students will be taught safety tips of taking something apart and where a good place might be. At this point students will start to take apart their electronic on their own time and will have one week to really get into it. Week 2- Learners will give the class a tour of what they found inside their electronic. They will participate in a verbal "I have, who has..." game that allows kids to compare the parts they found, it's amazing how many different parts electronics have, but also how many are the same in various electronics. Students watch a short video on the concept of up cycle and begin to plan out what they might like to create out of their pieces. Week 3- Students will share their plan of what they want to make with the class. Classmates are to evaluate each others plans and offer suggestions of how to make the creation better. The learners will have to opportunity to include the new ideas into their plan. Learners will then be instructed of how to fuse pieces together safely and be introduced to guidelines about what can be made. They can use tape or hot glue to stick parts together. All pieces of the electronic do not need to be used. Week 4- Students will share their final product in class. Each learner will introduce their animal, tell how they made it and describe physical characteristics of the animal they created. Learners will be asked to comment on the creators design and tell what they like about other students animals or ask questions for clarification.

I have been teaching on Outschool since April of 2020 and am an elementary school educator who knows how to create hands on activities which empower thriving children of all ages.
I specialize in providing a vast variety of hands on activities that promote the value of social and emotional intelligence as well as the importance of showing children their potential. There is not always a right answer in learning, children thrive in all different ways and I find great joy in helping them discover their gifts and talents.
Over the course of 25 years in the classroom, I have taught 1st grade, kindergarten through 3rd grade media literacy classes, and kindergarten through 5th grade computer application classes. I have also tutored kindergarten through 5th grade students in all subject areas and am TESOL certified. I am an advocate for children and believe in helping them to reach their potential, while understanding all of our minds think differently. Being able to discover how each person finds success is such a gift.
I am a proud owner of Boomer, my Labrador Retriever. He loves to be by me all the time and wants to be part of my teaching. Pets bring such joy and unconditional love, that it just seems natural to involve him in my classes. He has a lot to teach and learn!
