Grado de EE. UU. 8 - 11
This course has all of the support of a live class but at a slower pace. This course is ideal for students who need an Algebra curriculum that constantly reviews previous learned information and scaffolds that information in a way that builds understanding systematically using brain-friendly methods. Each lesson part will have an interactive video. An interactive video is a video that I make where students will have instructed times to pause and interact with the material; for example students may need to do part of their homework with me during the video or they need to comment on the video itself an answer to a question. All of these interactive parts are for processing and synthesizing information. Students should plan for 2-5 hours worth of activities and work each week as this is a full curriculum. Please note the videos will be short and succinct for the best learner retention and understanding. At the end of the semester, the student will receive a letter grade for the course. The grade will be comprised of the interactive activity participation and the homework. I will also post optional puzzles, brain teasers, and real world application activities throughout the course to further support each learner. In order to support learning students will be provided with notes (similar to what they would find in a text book). Students will also have access to the materials for the textbook. This is a free curriculum. We will use graphing calculators but a free digital version will be available. All grades and feedback will be personalized for your student. For enrolled learners: I try my best to answer all student questions within 24 hours. If students need extra support with a lesson please have them reach out and I can make personalized videos for the areas they need review in. The course will follow the following schedule: Unit 1 Week 1: Writing and modeling with Equations Week 2: Manipulating Equations (Equivalent Expressions) Week 3: Equations and Graphing Week 4: Working with Linear Equations Week 5: Systems of Linear Equations in 1 Variable Week 6: Linear Inequalities Week 7: Systems of Linear Inequalities in 2 Variables Week 8: Review Unit 2 Week 9: Manipulating Data Week 10: Standard Deviation and Outliers Week 11: Two way tables and scatter plots Week 12: Correlation Coefficients.

I am a non traditional teacher, no lectures here!
Instead my classes focus on being:
*Student Centered- they lead the pace
*Critical Thinking -complex tasks are given that may be a bit unusual but will cause students to think deeply
*Problem Solving- word problems to keep concepts in context
*Focus on discovering patterns- patterns is the basis of the study of algebra and higher levels of math thinking
*Students create their understanding versus being told what to think
I am constantly learning how to become a better math teacher! I have a Master's degree in Math Education but I don't believe that means I know everything. In fact I am constantly reading about the brain, and the best ways to teach math. I also am constantly evaluating my classes and content and making changes based on how learners interact with the material.
I have 13 years of experience in Education, and have taught math at all levels including adults.

In my down time, I love hanging with my husband, and two girls. We love to read books, play games and do math together (of course:)
