In this weekly ongoing class, students will learn about about a different aspect of space each week (stars, planets, solar systems, moons, etc...) The class will begin with a vibrant presentation and engaging discussion on the topic of the week. Learners will be encouraged to participate in the conversation and ask/answer questions. Next, they will participate in the game of the week to consolidate learning. The game of the week may be trivia, guess the word, fill in the blank, etc... Finally, students will create a simple craft based on the topic of the week. The supply list will be posted a week in advance, or sent to the student after they have registered (unless the student signs up close to the class' start time.) If you do not have the materials, your child can improvise with whatever you happen to have at home. Here is the breakdown of the weeks: Week of January 26: Earth Supplies Needed: White paper Scissors A container (round if possible) Shaving cream (or white paint) Blue and green paint A paintbrush Week of February 2: Mars Week of February 9: Jupiter Week of February 16: Saturn Week of February 23: Uranus Week of March 2: Neptune Week of March 2: Astronaut Day Part 2 **Daylight Savings** Week of March 9: Spacecraft Week of March 16: The Big Bang Week of March 23: Craters Week of March 30: Fun Space Facts Day! Week of April 6: Animals in Space Week of April 13: Phases of the Moon Week of April 20: UFOs Week of April 27: NO CLASS This is a beginner level course. Students do not need to have any previous knowledge about space in order to participate. This is an ongoing class and although all of the topics are related, they are not cumulative. Students may drop in and out at any time. I look forward to teaching your children all about space! Ms. Erin
